"Food certainly lived up to the standard set in the other Thai Orchid in South Perth. Food was first class and service very good idea. Location is nothing to write home about but certainly worth a look for the food alone."

We went to the restaurant on a Sunday night. There were two other tables occupied when we arrived so not a busy night. We ordered spring rolls and chicken satay for starters. The spring rolls arrived first only for us to discover they were frozen inside. We handed them back and shortly after the second starter arrived. The chicken was tough but the satay sauce tasty. After 5 min another portion of spring rolls arrived. The first main of Massaman curry was brought to the table without the rice or the second main. It sat on the table for 5 minutes before the second main of BBQ chicken arrived. The steamed rice was served from a communal pot and we got the scrapings of the bottom which was dry...
Visited here on a Friday night and it was busy but the staff were still attentive and polite. The restaurant is nicely laid out and the décor is pleasant. The food is some of the best Thai food I have had in Perth. The dishes were very tasty and aromatic without the big chilli hit that accompanies some Thai preparations. We had the banquet and can recommend mussamen beef, Thai green chicken and chicken with cashews. The basil with prawns was a bit bland and I probably won't order the again. I would recommended the restaurant as a good option if yo9u are looking for Thai food.
I love this place so much, I can forgive it almost anything. But in the last 2-3 years the quality of the food has gone steeply down hill. the service, décor and smiles are still as authentic as ever, but the last Larb Gai I had there was bland and chalky. the Pahnang Beef, Golden Bags & skewered beef and still good, but not how it was in 2010. PLEASE Thai Orchid, become my favourite place in Mt Lawley again, I miss you!!
The meals were nice but not really special. No complaints but I wouldn't be rushing back. I thought it was unusual that they didn't leave the steamed eve on your table. They would come and give you a serving and walk away with it. The rice was closely guarded so you finished your portion and had to wait for them to come back. At the same price as Dusit Thai there's no real comparison Réservez une table maintenant
It's a great pity that so many small restaurants like this are struggling to survive in Perth's washed-out current economic climate. Six of us were there for dinner last Saturday evening. The food was ok, not up to expectations though (due to low turnover, I suspect), and I'm not really that critical unless I get sick....I did the next day, but only slightly. Good friendly service.
Most definitely the best Thai in Perth. We have been eating here for many years. We like to try different places but always come back.Service and food is always 10/10.I find a lot of the comments re: portion sizes being too small, rather interesting. Have found we always have a great deal of food left. I've never left hungry. Always consistently good.
