A little gem in Alberta we were travelling through to Saskatchewan! Thai food was excellent! My husband and I have been to Thailand so we highly recommend to try it. Looking to have a light refreshing Reisling try the Kung Fu Girl (we just liked the name ordered it more to say we tried it, I'll buy it now), we started with sharing the Tom Yum soup, then for mains we shared the Thai BBQ Pork and Yellow Curry and to finish it off we shared the Coconut Creme Brulee. What a delicious meal, we hardly ever order desserts but this is a must. We should have taken pictures but who knew we would enjoy it so much. If you are looking to stay in your comfort zone this is the place for you.We ordered Khao Soi in fact we came for because Khao Soi was on the menu. Unfortunately Khao Soi is not what we got served. We received red curry with over cooked noodles, pieces of chicken, prawn and what seemed to be a variety pack of frozen vegetables. We where missing the authentic flavor, the deep fried noodles, the drumstick, and the pickled mustard greens.Don't get me wrong it tasted good. It was just very westernized and did not justify the high price.The service was great and the location satisfactory.If you are looking for authentic Thai food I would recommend to keep looking.
Not worth the price. Had 4 4inch) spring rolls, ~30oz) soup and a cup of rice for $34. Food was okay. I ordered a small but was given a regular and was charged for it I wouldn't have known the size difference the regular looked small).Over pricing food doesn't account for just quality of food, but for quality of service and customer satisfaction as well.Was not satisfied with portion size, and was not satisfied with service.One of the waitresses also bumped into my table 4 or 5 times...Overall a 2/5 because I couldn't help comparing it to a food court Thai restaurant that tastes the same or better, for less than half the price.
Ordered the authentic (supposed to be their hottest version) Tom Yum soup. It wasn’t authentic at all, a can of tomato soup with a dash of pepper would have been more flavourful. I would normally have eaten it anyways but it was just so underwhelming that I had to send it back. Lost my appetite. Told the manager what the problem is, he didn’t say a word, just chuckled under his breath and walked away. I won’t eat there again. The salad rolls weren’t good either, all lettuce and the dipping sauce was very bland as well. Réservez une table maintenant
This was my first visit to Thai Orchid Room, and I feel as if I lucked out getting a table on a Friday night at the dinner rush time without a reservation. A clean, welcoming space. The staff are very friendly and attentive while not being overbearing. The food was amazing, fresh, and flavorful. I ordered the salmon choo chee and goong pow and the flavors were rich and the dishes I chose were spicy but not overpowering. Great service and outstanding food.
Took my wife here for her birthday, and it was awesome as usual. The food is so authentic, unlike many other Thai places I've visited. The curries are seasoned to perfection, and the prawns we had in our dishes were perfectly cooked. The kitchen staff pay great attention to the finer details of the dishes, and it shows in the flavor profiles. This is still one of my favorite places to eat in southern Alberta.
I 'd give this place zero stars. I was extremely excited to have a thai soup I 've been traveling all day I call, and order a soup I just picked it up and came back to my hotel to eat it. For starters the container isn 't full what SO EVER I ordered the larger size paid for the larger size and got this tiny container of soup that 's missing a bunch of liquid SO DISSAPOINTING and annoying. ???????
Food was good but I really wish I paid attention to the prices before ordering. $45 before tip for four spring rolls and a curry bowl. That’s insane.And before the owners reply saying ‘our loyal customers know the quality is worth the price blah blah blah’ no. The restaurant has a spacious yet cozy interior. The server was very nice and the food arrived quickly. The BBQ Thai pork was juicy and flavourful, and jasmine rice was good. That said, I got a feeling that the restaurant serves the more westernized rather than fully authentic Thai food.
