We visited on a Monday evening during the Eat out to Help out' scheme and I think was the root of the problem. The restaurant was busy an there were not enough staff available to keep up. However our booking was for 8pm and the...majority of tables were being served or finishing main courses. We had to wait a long time for any sort of service and the food was slow to be served. There was no apology for the delay and curiously when the curries were served it looked as if one had been under a warmer as an unappealing skin had formed on it. I visited this restaurant after reading positive reviews on travel advisors. The decoration was disappointing when entering, but the reception was friendly, which was the only redeeming quality. The starter I had was mediocre, but the main course was absolutely terrible. The chicken was clearly low quality and the table did not match what was advertised. We ordered keema naan, but only 2 out of the 4 naans had keema inside. The meal cost over £30 for 2 dishes that were not worth the price, especially compared to established and high-quality Indian restaurants in Birmingham.
Visited the Gurkha Oven during the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. We were staying near Stamford and had not tried this restaurant before. The social distancing was spot on, the staff who waited on our table were incredibly friendly and nothing was too much...trouble. We didn’t want full courses as none of us have huge appetites, so we chose one main course and several sides between us. We ate every morsel. The food was fresh, full of flavour and piping hot. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant and we are planning a re-visit later in the year!
The food was flavorful and tasty, but my chicken curry tasted more like korma with a hint of chili added last minute. It was still good, but I was really craving a spicy curry that night. The service was incredibly slow, likely due to the busy restaurant not having enough staff. This led to frustration among diners. Takeaway orders were also backed up, which made me think they should prioritize dine-in customers over takeaway orders during peak dinner hours. I had a 4-star meal tonight at Eat, but the waiter deserves at least 6 stars for providing excellent service, including drinks, takeout orders, and phone assistance. Some places would have already closed, but Eat was still open and although it wasn't as exceptional as it has been in the past, it was still very good.
We enjoyed a great meal here. The food was very tasty and delicious. The starters are very big, so you may want to share one, so it gives you enough room to eat all your main. We couldn’t finish all the food we ordered. Plenty...of room between tables, felt a safe place to visit.
Lovely exceptional food on a Saturday night, the momo starter is great. The only downside was the service where although with a starter inbetween, 6 of us waited 2hours for our mains when the place wasn't full, also drinks were slow to come to the...table with each order.
