I visited the pub with my child who chose it because it had a bouncy castle in Hathern. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the experience. I ordered food at the bar while my friend stayed with our children at the table where we were given menus. I placed my order first, but my friend was told she would have to wait for an hour. The staff did not communicate this wait time beforehand, causing our party to be separated. The food I received was frozen and overpriced. The starters I ordered were small and unappetizing, not freshly made. The staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. I visited the Anchor Inn last week with my work colleagues during our Christmas dinner. I had the salmon with prawn cocktail as a starter which was nice. I chose the top side of beef as a main and it arrived very dry, which was disappointing. It looked like it had stayed under the heat lamp for a very long time and it was not freshly cooked for sure! The two tiny pigs in blankets were clearly burnt, please see attached photo. The big sharing plates of vegetables had lots of mash, not enough roasted potatoes and the broccoli pieces were clearly over cooked. The service was ok, however considering the place wasn’t too busy it could have been better. The lemon sponge melting pudding was lovely....
We visited The Anchor on Christmas Eve for our Mum’s birthday and had such a good time! The food was great…all homemade and cooked to perfection, but what made the evening for us was how welcoming everyone was! The landlord came over (after we’d finished eating , introduced himself and stayed for a chat even though it was his night off we had a lovely chat with his wife too. The Bar Manager was equally as friendly and welcoming…it felt like we’d know her for ages, not 2 hours and there were hugs when we left : We will definitely be back and would recommend this pub to anyone. Visited with friends from work and enjoyed the Festive menu. Fantastic choice of starters with different things like fig and goats cheese parcels. I had the turkey with all the trimmings which was great. A large selection of veg as well as roast and mashed potatoes were supplied to the table. A generous gravy jug as well. Finally the Xmas pud with a choice of custard, cream, ice cream or brandy sauce. All with Xmas music playing in the background and a nice atmosphere. Thank you for a great night.

Popped In For a spot of lunch and to book in a family birthday for Jan. Beautiful home cooked food that is to die for and at a great price, friendly welcome on arrival, staff very friendly and welcoming, lovely clean environment. Highly recommend, looking forward to returning soon. Many thanks
This restaurant is fantastic - the staff is excellent and the food is top-notch. It's a perfect spot for a family gathering or meeting up with friends. The garden area is absolutely stunning. Thank you to Kelly and Rob for a wonderful experience.
I recently had a pre-Christmas dinner at this restaurant and it was fantastic. The staff were lovely and the food was plentiful, fresh, and of high quality. I appreciated that they allowed us to take a break between our main course and dessert.
Amazing friendly pub that serves fantastic home cooked food, and with care! Kelly Rob work hard so you have a great time, nothing is too much hassle and it’s such a friendly atmosphere!

A very tasty 3 course Xmas dinner. Very good value and the staff are very friendly and obliging. Definitely will visit again in the near future.
Lunch with friends today, excellent service and good food at reasonable prices. Portions were excellent and enjoyed by all.
