Went for lunch with my mother, my partner and his mother. I asked for a Lager Shandy which the server seemed fine with. My partner then asked for a lager and the server said oh we don 't have lager available on tap for 30mins while the lines are being cleaned so don 't know how he was planning to make my lager shandy? Then said he could offer bottled lager. Came back and only offered bottle pale ales and IPAs, but not lagers? So I gave up and had a lemonade. My mother in law ordered the Mushroom keema flatbread, cucumber and mango raita, masala onions, coriander but it didn 't come with any raita. When she asked about the raita to the server, he said it doesn 't come with any dip, but she showed him the menu and he clearly had no idea what raita is and insisted the dish was served how it is supposed to be. She asked if they had some yoghurt or something because it was quite spicy. He came back with a ramekin of vanilla yoghurt..... Not a great experience. The only good thing was that the beer battered fish was absolutely delicious.

Came across this lovely place purely by chance when looking for a Sunday lunch spot to meet friends. We are so glad we found the Anchor Inn. The pub is a quaint old building with very low beams and a rustic bar. The restaurant is more modern, with tables laid nicely for meals. We had a thoroughly enjoyable Sunday Roast which was beautifully presented with a very generous serving of food. Staff were plentiful and very attentive and always checking if everything was to our liking. Apparently it is under new management and I would say they have got it spot on! We will be back again.

A lovely light lunch with friends; although we didn’t have huge appetites, what we did eat was delicious smoked trout mousse and mushrooms on sourdough and then crème brûlée. Great coffee and perfect service (from wonderful waitress Alexandra), too.
