#1 of 101 in trip advisor. About 1/2 of small menu on the right side of the chalk board are vegan or vegetarian. As you enter restaurant, the owner, Luke greets you and helps you choose the best choice for you. Luke gladly made a menu item on the left meat side vegan for me Singapore rice. It was very tasty. You order from Luke and pay at counter near door as you enter. Service is very fast. Luke delivers your meal to the table and refills your beverages. They have specialty coffees and a vegan desert which I did not try. The cafe setting is simple and pleasant. There is a small stage for events. We were on a cycling trip with eight friends - everyone from hard core carnivores to true vegans so finding a place that could accommodate all was always our challenge. We selected this place based on the reviews and the fact that it had something for everyone and was located just off the bike trail which was ideal! We ordered a variety of dishes and everyone was delighted with there choice. The selection was varied and interesting. We were so impressed with the food, atmosphere and coffee that two of us returned later in the week for a fantastic lunch of polenta fries, with a delicious home made tomato sauce. Upon entering the restaurant, a strange odor was immediately noticed. It did not seem like the usual smell you would expect in a restaurant. Perhaps it was time to leave. The waiter who took our order seemed overly serious and uptight, making the whole experience uncomfortable. Despite the high prices, the quality of the food was disappointing. It was not even served warm and had a strange consistency. The coffee was also subpar. The overall ambiance of the restaurant was dull and unappealing, with a dark and dreary color scheme. We chose The Black Sheep Lounge for lunch after a Regatta in Welland, and we were very glad we did! There were many things on the menu we wish we could have tried. We ordered the Porkinator, Chicken and Grits, and Gnocchi with mint and sweet pea sauce. Outstanding! Everything was homemade; our food arrived piping hot and beautifully plated. Cappuccino was perfect, too.The cherry on top is their incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff. Bravo! Réservez une table maintenant
black sheep lounge is nothing less than an incredibly unique atmosphere to go and chill and eat a bite. they often have live music; and if not, ask lucas to play them. he is not only a great host, but a really talented musician. the food is made fresh and is absolutely delicious. this is definitiw the place to be if they are looking for a unique mood and have a need for excellent coffee, delicious food and a friendly atmosphere.
Enjoyed a "light lunch" (food on a fresh baked bun from bakery next door owned by Black Sheep Lounge's family) with a friend. Ample food. I finished all of mine; my friend took half of her's home. Reasonably priced. Quiet atmosphere. Offer variety of specialty coffees (from in lounge ground beans) and other beverages.
I like the rest of the spirit of a separate vegetarian/vegan part on the menu. I got the vegan rarms and felt good to know that I didn't have to worry about bark broth or other animal ingredients. lukas is very welcoming, courtesy and friendly. beautiful atmosphere in this caffe, I will often be back!
