The Block Webster Groves

This was our first visit to this restaurant. No wait for a table at 7PM on a Thursday. Nice atmosphere, casual, quiet enough to hold a conversation. Good table spacing. Very pleasant greeting and seating experience. Service was prompt, pleasant, and very knowledgeable. We ordered a salad split as a starter and the sirloin steak and pork and dumplings as entrées. Salad was well presented and unique. Nicely chilled. Wine by the glass was excellent. Entrées came out quickly and well presented. House cut steak was thick and perfectly rare, as requested. We liked the burgers fries but felt the quality of food was too expensive for what you are getting. The drinks were 10-14 dollars were good- we got the old fashion can't dance. The cheese sauce with the ole( bread) cheese was very strong/ sharp tasting cheese. The macaroni had sharp cheddar cheese- not to our liking. The staff was very nice.Vegetarian options: There are sides,Macaroni, flat breads, ole, cheese.Kid-friendliness: They have a children' s menu but we were not offered one.

The block is consistently a good experience and tonight was no exception. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. The bacon jam here is amazing. If you get something and it's an option to add it, do it. It's that good. I opted for the burger tonight with a side salad. Filling without being heavy. My spouse had the pork and dumplings. It was rich and really filling. We will definitely be back.

The food is way too salty for me. Having eaten here before, I know this and requested NO SALT. The cook ignores that. And this isn’t the first time. Enough! The salmon was two stacked tail ends of a salmon fillet. For $32! Not as good as it once was.Dietary restrictions: Forget this place if you have special dietary requests. Great happy hour. Busy! But service was good. The jalapeño tequila margarita was interesting. Definitely required the salted rim. All the apps we were good from the fries to the calamari to the cheese curds to the shrimp.

The food was amazing. Every bit as good as anywhere else in Old Town Webster. Also, I'm not sure why it says $30-50 a plate. $20-30 is more accurate beyond the market cuts of steak. I highly recommend!
