This is a really lovely cafe bookstore and I've been dropping in here on a regular basis since it first opened nearly a decade ago. The big point of difference with the Bodhi Tree as opposed to the other local cafes has always been its.. peace, love and culture ethos: fair trade coffee, vegan/vegetarian options, books, and gifts sourced from communities in developing countries (sort of Fremantle without being in Fremantle Service has always been friendly (bar one individual long gone who didn't get with the serenity programme The book range has shrunk considerably since Bodhi's opening (which is a real shame) to mostly self-help publications. This was packed with every table taken when we arrived for lunch. We managed to score a table in a very cramped location (no Covid distancing here)... It was all down hill from there the salad (not made on the premises) was sold out....The mushrooms with egg and spinach was so soggy on the toast it was terrible. Even the green tea in the pot didn’t cover the leaves so naturally didn’t have any colour nor taste. When I asked if they could pop a dash more hot water to cover the leaves, they not only grumble about it, but then forgot entirely to return it at all. Even the small milk jug had a terrible chip and crack running through it. Would not recommend and super expensive to boot!
I regularly visit the Bodhi Tree with friends and also on my own. I find it a very welcoming place. The staff are warm, attentive and caring and I love the chai latte, that is always available. The reason I say this is because it...is not overly sweet and nice and hot, just how I like it. I love browsing through the books, cards and gifts in the store and I think we are really lucky to have such a lovely place to spend some time. During the winter, it is definitely the place you want to be as it is warm thanks to heating and the carpeting and none of that loud clanking noise experienced in some other cafes. I went to the Bondi Tree with a group of friends for a brunch catchup. I’m sorry to say I was really disappointed, the menu and general offerings were basic. I ordered a poached eggs on gf toast with smoked salmon it was that’s...right nearly for two small slices of toast, two poached eggs and a scant of smoked salmon. I was lucky if I had three strands of smoked salmon for it was well over priced and seriously not worth the money. I won’t be going again. Réservez une table maintenant
It was refreshing to find somewhere cool, comfortable and we could talk and hear each other, without raising our voices.I ordered Thyme Mushrooms on a sourdough toast with a poached egg.It also came with cooked spinach too.Sadly, the raw tomato was plentiful and not ripe.The mushrooms were soggy, tasteless as though they had been steamed. The toasted sourdough was tasty, but soggy.Disappointing!!
Terrible. My family and I came here to enjoy a nice lunch however we waited minutes for our food to come out, two of our orders were wrong (kitchen cooked a different dish) and the overall service was appalling. The excuse was that the chef was feeling over-whelmed Would not recommend.
