Stopped in on the way to the shore. We were pleasantly surprised by Haddonfield in general. A really nice town with a charming Main Street. Having read some of the outdated reviews I was hoping for the best but not too sure. I should not have worried. It was top notch! The haddock was fantastic with perfectly cooked batter (not too thick or hard like we usually get in the states) The chips were also delicious and even the mushy peas were 100% authentic (not from a can) My wife ordered a salad that she also loved, while we also ordered an assortment of their delicious scones to go. Overall a great experience! Before we left we chatted with the owner who was very friendly and told us that he h...

It was Sunday Roast day but they had an issue with their fryer so couldn’t do anything fried at all. However, I was very disappointed with the roast dinner after having looked forward to it a lot. The Brussel sprout appetizer was luke warm at best....a couple of the sprouts were stone cold. I didn’t say anything as I assumed the fryer issue gave them enough grief. The Roast Lamb dinner....the lamb was totally bland, as were the mashed potatoes. The roast potatoes were beyond crispy...they were solid. My wife had the bangers and mash ....the sausages were tough.....the skin on the bangers, which should be crispy, was like leather. They did the right thing and took that off the bill and she ha...

Visited the British Chip Shop with another couple for Sunday brunch/lunch. Service was great—food was good and for the most part reasonably priced but be careful when you ask for anything that isn’t priced on the menu. “Refill” on $3.50 cup of coffee was another charge of $3.50 without being told in advance—ended up being charged $14 for two cups of coffee with one refill each. Side of onion gravy with fish and chips was $6 when an order of chips with onion gravy and cheddar is only $8. Small container of honey with tea was $1 and another $1 charge for a small container of honey mustard to go with the chicken and chips. Restaurants are free to charge whatever they want but it’s only fair to...

I’d heard the shop was run by British people, and then taken over by British people, but I was disappointed to hear the American accents! I was hoping for a true ‘home from home’ experience, with me being British and all! I was disappointed in that it was a fish and chip shop made to look British, with cliche London pictures and decor aimed at American customers! Even the menu had American-isms and wasn’t completely British. That said, the chips, vinegar and ketchup made my lunch taste of home, but the sausage came battered (ugh! and was a Cumberland rather than a ‘chip shop’ sausage, but nice enough once the batter was off. A good pot of tea to wash it down, but no dairy free milk alternati... Réservez une table maintenant

We had very good things about this restaurant so we decided to give it a try. The food itself was quite good, especially the chips. The service was absolutely awful and we were never even asked about getting any drinks. The value for the food was actually fine, but it was an overall poor experience for our first time at this restaurant. Perhaps what made it most disappointing was that the restaurant was not crowded at all, so there was not any excuse for this service. My guess is that we will not return to this restaurant.

I wrote an unfavorable review a few years ago, but decided to try it again with the new owners and was pleasantly surprised. Service was slow, but the food was great. We both opted for the Cottage Pie which was excellent. We visited on a busy Friday night before Christmas, which probably explains the service being slow, but the floor was well managed and everyone was pleasant. $3.00 for the can of soda seemed steep, but it was a different flavor than we get in the U.S., and worth trying at least once.

My husband and I went for brunch. He was hoping for a traditional English breakfast. The decor is dated and the place is dark and somewhat dirty (grease and dust on picture frames, dirty windows, dust and dirt spots on inside of hanging lampshades). The two women working the front of the house seemed new and a bit confused, but they were trying really hard to keep up and they were pleasant. The food was so so but not really good. All in all, this place was a disappointment.

Visited with friends on a recent Saturday in April. We all had the fish and chips which were very delicious and not too greasy. The batter wasn't heavy and the amount of fish was generous. Seating was a bit uncomfortable, with hard wooden chairs. There was only one server but thankfully, the place was not very busy. For dessert had the homemade sticky toffee pudding-to die for!!!! We would definitely return when we are in the area. Réservez une table maintenant

Sitting in a wheelchair in the lobby for 15 minutes is not enough to elicit so much as an acknowledgement from any of the staff. The fact that a wheelchair and pusher that takes up a good portion of the lobby/entrance area isn't enough to be noticed, even with half of the tables empty means either the staff could care less(as other reviews state) or are they have so much business that they will pick and choose who they acknowledge.
