We decided to have lunch at a pub before a meeting in Newmarket. We thought it would be more enjoyable to have a nice lunch at a leisurely pace before the gates opened at 3pm. We had lunch at this pub in May 2011 and had to check old diaries to remember its location. We won a meal for two at The Bull in our local Hospice raffle but would have happily paid for our lovely Sunday lunch. We got a great warm welcome from Rob, Katrina and Jack, the gorgeous cocker spaniel. The bar had a warming fire going and a good range of beers, wines and drinks. The dining area was separate from the bar and was light and airy, loved the hare wallpaper. We shared a starter of crispy breadcrumbed slices of Portobello mushroom with a side salad and garlic mayo dip. We reserved the dining area for a lunch event to honor the memory of a loved one. Tina and her husband were incredibly caring and accommodating, providing the perfect food and attending to all of our guests' needs with kindness and sensitivity. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was just right. I highly recommend this restaurant.
What a great location sitting on the edge of the large village green. As the weather was fine it was nice to sit outside and enjoy the view. We ordered baguettes which came with some salad on the side. The draft beer was limited to Greene King IPA and Sharp's Doom Bar. This would make a nice local pub if we lived in the area.

If you’re looking for a place to go that is dog friendly this is the pub for you. There’s plenty of space outside and in the bar for you to sit and eat. Would highly recommend and so does Lola!
The restaurant provides excellent food and service, is dog-friendly and overall very welcoming. The staff even allowed us to take a doggy bag home. The environment is clean and friendly.
A rushed decision to find somewhere to eat at lunchtime. Thoroughly enjoyed an excellent meal. Good beer, wine etc. and very friendly too. I do recommend this pub in lovely countryside.

We have been here a few times and always found this to be a wonderfully friendly pub. The staff are great! Food is delicious and reasonably priced.
Nice country pub beer ok. Surprised to be informed that a surcharge would be made if I used a debit card. Thought that this was now illegal. Anon.
