We booked a table at 9:15. We were seated next to the bar. Some blokes were ordering pints of Guinness and lager at the bar. We had to ask them to move before seating down ad we literally didn’t have no space between them and our table. We felt we were place out there without any care. The waitress arrived and there wasn’t any steak or fillet or any meat. They didn’t have hake either. It was shocking as 1/2 of the menu was gone. Only small plates to combine with the non existent protein. Why offer tables after 9pm if you can’t offer the same service/ food as at 7pm? We felt like we were taking the left overs. We left. End up in FM Mangal. Not by choice but because we were hungry. It turns out we eat, the service was good and we had some shots too, fraction of the price. Camberwell arms food is delicious, is just that isn’t consistent and pretentious. Because they know is good they don’t care how the come across to customers. You are good until you aren’t anymore.

We booked the Camberwell arms weeks in advance due to popularity. So before we arrived at the restaurant I had heard amazing reviews best roast in London and was extremely excited to visit. However, after my Sunday lunch visit to the restaurant I have never left a restaurant feeling more disappointed. First of all the staff were all looked like they wanted to be else where and poured are drink of the table. Secondly we had the chiefs roast not by choice as at 3pm in the afternoon youd sold out. What kind of restaurant runs out of Sunday lunch by 3pm. The chicken roast consisted of three items chicken without gravy, 4 roast potatoes which had been left under the heat lamp which ment they were dry and spinach. The fact that this items cost £46 between two is a robbery. When a toby carvery is £10 and consists of 13 different items. I would like to ask for some reimbursement if I 'm honest as this is not up to scratch and I 'm really disappointed

Every single thing about the food was superb. We had fish to start and also the most amazing bread, cheese and tomato dish. We then shared the hoggart, and had masses to take home in doggy bags that then did for dinner as well. Dessert was also bang on the money. A really excellent martini to start and then a nice glass of house red and a decent selection of beer on tap. My only room for improvement comment is that the service was a little surly, but at that age I wasn’t exactly perky on a Sunday either. A thoroughly enjoyable meal, and I think currently the best traditional style roast in London at the moment. Excited to return.

A popular SE5 pub in the middle of a terrace easy to miss but a mistake to do so. Sunday lunch had dab and other excellent intros. Four of us had roast chicken with a fabulously moreish spinach and yoghurt dressing which mingled with gravy and excellent spuds. No useless bulky unnecessary Yorkshires here. No 5 had an excellent lamb dish with veg. Gorgeous all round. We were at a 1 Star the week before (not reviewed) thinking of suggesting they come here for a flavour upgrade. Jolly and attentive staff.
