We went for a NYE family meal and were so impressed with the whole experience. We were greeted at reception, had a pre-meal drink in the bar followed by lunch in the dining area. Every staff member without exception was polite, friendly and helpful. The atmosphere in both sides of the pub was relaxed and welcoming and we all really enjoyed our meals. The pace of service was perfect allowing us to enjoy a relaxing family afternoon and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. 2 of our party had a dog and this was a factor for choosing the pub, which was clearly dog friendly. Absolutely shocking!!! £100 fine for using the pub car park. The letter stated our registration plates need to be inputted at the restaurant yet nobody in the restaurant ever instigated that this was the case!! I went to castle inn to check out the signs as I initially thought it was a scam but the signs are so small and tiny font you couldn’t read beside the fact you would never expect to have to go to this degree to park in a pubs car park. Our friends were equally fined as well and as previous regular customers we will never be returning to Castle inn. What a shame!!
We had booked the Barn on for my mother in laws 80th Birthday which just happened to be on NYE. From start to finish Georgia and the team could not do enough to make the evening special. The staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent quality and there were many compliments from our party on every course and I felt it was excellent value for money. I would highly recommend the Castle for anyone looking to book a celebration or just a meal/drinks, it was truly a fantastic night..
I parked in the pub car park and spent less than two hours here on 20 December having lunch with a colleague I then received a £100 parking fine from a company called Parking Eye on Christmas Day, lovely! Despite appealing and providing evidence that I was a legitimate customer I was still fined. What a way to treat your customers Castle Inn.! This was my first visit in a long time and I won’t be coming back!

I highly recommend The Barn for small celebrations. The space is spacious and beautifully decorated, just like on the website. We received a warm welcome and everything went smoothly. The meals were all excellent, with the roast beef being particularly standout. A special thank you to the staff, Lucy, James, Tim, and Joe, who took great care of us.
Good afternoon, I have a question. I am taking part in the MND challenge, which involves walking 15,000 steps a day in January. Is there a limit on how long we can park in the car park? We plan to get a breakfast takeaway and then take our time to complete our steps, as we are all in our 60s and 70s. Thank you in advance.
Our Christmas Do was held at lunchtime and was in the barn area a separate room within The Castle Inn. It was warm, cosy and very well laid out. The service provided by Chloe was exceptional and the food was excellent. The whole day was hard to fault. Will we be back next year? Yes!
Excellent Sunday lunch at our lovely Spofforth village pub and hotel The Castle. Food was excellent as was the service and the car parking booking system was a breeze and also ensures the car park isn't used by non patrons. Spofforth villagers are lucky to have this place !

My spouse and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The hotel was charming, the food was scrumptious, and the staff were extremely pleasant. We would highly recommend it to others.
