The Cellar Door Alfresco Kitchen

We stopped by for a quick coffee during a long walk from Totnes. although we hadn't booked, we were made very welcome. We chose cake to accompany our coffee, I went with the lemon drizzle and my partner plumped for the rather interesting sounding banana cake with peanut frosting. My lemon drizzle was without doubt the most delicious I have ever tasted. The banana cake was also delicious and worth a return visit! All in all a very pleasant interval in our day.

Family of 6 (all adults) The whole meal was amazing...all of the courses were first class with a real mix of flavours and textures and real and very pleasant surprise. They were two staff down on the day and yes it did show but the dishes were some of the best food eaten and we are a well travelled family. The chefs were happy to chat at the end and shared some how the dishes were cooked. The staff were fun and chatty.

We've eaten here enjoyably a few times over the years since it became The Cellar Door about three years ago it went up a notch or two. And today's lunch was just superb great quality ingredients cooked with imagination and skill, and presented with real finesse. Add friendly and helpful service and you have three very happy diners. Many thanks to the whole crew.

We had been really looking forward to our visit for weeks. It was such a disappointment. The food (limited menu) was well presented and tasty. The table service however was poor. We felt overlooked and forgotten. Surly and unfriendly would be an accurate description. It was booked as a special treat. We came away feeling somewhat let down.

Superb food and wine in a very pleasant setting. I had ham hock terrine to start and my husband had locally smoked salmon. We then both have lamb rump and croquette. All was splendid and the wine I sampled was also excellent. Recommend for a special lunch
