When my friend came from the midlands, I knew there were two places I really wanted to take. one of them was the central bar. so we went to Sunday dinner. they make three options of frying and a good number of veggie / vegan options. and there is a good deal of appetizing and puddings if they want to make the full whack. we had bark and pork. they came with two kinds of kartoffels (baked potato and braided), three veg and tasty gravure. the verdant had also anointing and bevelling stuffing and fabulous cracks. the central bar is all about the beer and the ghosts. there is a fascinating series of caught beer, some supplied by Barman power alone, and the spectrum of the ghosts is really enviable. we both had a bathtub gin and slim tonic. it came in huge bowl glasses with a beautiful vintage looking bottle tonikum. this pub looks like someone's saying pub right away. all wood, brass and glass. it is located directly on the hill from the gateshead underground station and a light ten minute walk central station above the high level bridge. 'It's the kind of pub they can only lose the trace of time and spend days. '

we have recently held our wedding party in the central. from beginning to end gavin, scott and all the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. nothing was too much of an annoying for them and what it cost us was excellent value for money (a similar pub location in newcastle wanted us to recharge much more! . I would certainly recommend the pub if someone had a high-time celebration or another party for this occasion in an informal frame. we used the venue in the middle floor, for a band and dj, and the top floor with roof terrace for drinks and eating. the sun seemed to be all afternoon so that the roof terrace was perfect (a thing that the venue will not be able to guarantee, but is good weather! . and if they have no intention to use the central for a party, it is just a large alcohol with nice beer and good eating.

We had our engagement party here last night and it was brilliant. The staff were so friendly and really could not do enough to make sure we had a wonderful night. The roof terrace was great, and the rooms were just the right size and the food was fantastic. Thanks guys, we will be back....alot.

I really like this pub a lot.Lots of choices of real ale, terrific food, a traditional bar with framed posters of the north east's industrial and railway heritage. And to top it all, a very cosy rooftop terrace Ten out of ten.
