I have always loved the Chew Chew but have been sequestering myself in my home and in my office for the most part. I've only once had dinner out since May, and then at someone's invitation. A friend who lives in the northern suburbs met me at my home and we had a wonderful dinner at the Chew Chew. She is a cook (not professionally) and raved about the food, not to mention the service. The noise level was what you would expect in any good dinner restaurant, not quiet, but not loud enough to interfere at all in our conversation. This was our first time here and we really enjoyed it. The menu is extensive and well priced for the most part. We were out with another couple and we each ordered an appetizer to start. Mussels and steak poutine were big hits. I ordered the wild crab risotto, and while I enjoyed it, there wasn't much rice! Lots of other ingredients, would have appreciated and expected more actual risotto. Each couple also shared a dessert, also delicious. Patio is very nice, trains aren't that frequent, so not too disruptive

First time here and it was fantastic. Host gave us a great table because it was our first time nice touch. Our server, Trinity, was the best. Very attentive and personable. We were joking around and giving each other a hard time by the end of the meal. We had oysters (amazing! and firecrackers shrimp (good but not great , scallops w/risotto (scallops were huge cooked perfectly , and the chimichurri steak (very good! . We’ll be back!

The special Mardi Gras menu featured blackened red fish, which has been hard to come by locally in recent years. It was beautifully prepared over a bed of collard greens, along with little red beans and rice. All flavors were perfectly balanced. Such a treat! Réservez une table maintenant

It wasn’t crowded so we decided to try it instead downtown. The ambience was basic plain with rather blah decorations. The food was ok although a little pricey. Drinks were watered down and weak. If you’re in Riverside and need to eat it’s fine

Eating was okay. my risotto was suppe I've never seen before. the place is quite loud, but our waiter was wonderful.
