have never eaten here before. if they are looking for their common deep fried chickenburger, they are at the wrong place. the hühnerburger was on a soft bungalow. the chicken was soft, shredded and hot, now no matter what it won't have a ton taste. so you choose toppings! it was a delicious chicken on a bungalow with mayo and cranberry sauce embroidered. the only complaint I have is that it was a little small. but it was hot, tasty and I hope a bit more healthy than deep fried everything!
The food was delicious! I had a chicken burger, onion rings, a piece of fish, and a chocolate milkshake. Everything was great, but I would definitely recommend the milkshake! We sat outside at the picnic tables, but if you prefer, you can sit inside in a dining area with a 50s/60s theme, complete with a jukebox. Due to COVID, you can't select the music as before, but there is still background music to enjoy the atmosphere.
This is by far the worst burger I have ever eaten in all of my existence. It was just bland chicken between 2 buns !! I took 2 bites and threw the rest. I requested curry mayo which quickly promoted me to rush to the bathroom too. When I actually looked at the picture on the menu I had my doubts about it, but I thought I'd try. Unreal !! Maybe others like that bland taste but definitely not for foodies I guess.
A strong 4. A Bedford institution that I tried for the first time ever tonight. Good quality chicken sandwich but seemed very hot as if it was microwaved. Seasoning seemed a bit too modest. Yam fries were crisp and perfect. Curry chipotle was seasoned well. Milkshake was thick and creamy and really hit the spot. Will visit again but will likely not order the chicken sandwich again.
I grew up eating at The Chickenburger and my parents went on dates here before they were married. Was always fresh, simple, and delicious. Still good but service and quality has dropped. No longer outstanding. I'm sure it's not easy to keep a good thing the same for over 80 years. Hopefully will find its way back to simple, humble, excellence.
This place is truly a piece of history. The food is consistently excellent and has remained largely unchanged over the years. We absolutely love it. The building itself has seen many transformations, but I still remember coming here as a child with my father 40 years ago. Those were wonderful times filled with great memories.
