Honestly...one of the best pub restaurants I have ever visited! We chose to eat here as it was recommended via Alistair Sawday, and it did not disappoint. The food, atmosphere, hygiene and service were all 5* when we visited last night. We sat inside, by candlelight, and ordered 2 starters (the Rye smoked mackerel with buttercream sauce and the heritage tomato salad and 2 mains (the beef burger with fries and the hake with toasted ciabatta and garden peas . It was truly exquisite! We both cleaned our plates (and we don't usually do that! . My only mild criticism is that I didn't realise the hake dish would include bacon lardons they certainly added to the flavour, but as an ethical pescatari...

Overview: Visited the Coach and Horses for a midweek pub lunch. Situated in the countryside of Ashdown Forest. A lovely pub with a garden and small park area for children. Dog friendy and our dog was allowed in the main bar area. The staff are extremely friendly and made a fuss of our cocker spaniel. Food The food ordered did take some time coming to the table, about 25-30 minutes. Seemingly as the food was being cooked fresh. Unfortunately the burger ordered was completely undercooked so it was inedible. The meat was completely raw in the middle so it was fed to our dog. here on a motorcycle ride with the beautiful country pub. nice eating. the fish n chips and the wurst ham n chips were nicely cooked and presented. the staff was very nice and helpful. thank you.

We love to come here for the food and the great beer. Very friendly staff. Nice beer garden to sit out in the summer. Food is excellent.
