8 of us popped in here on the off chance for lunch after visiting the nearby Shuttleworth Collection at Old warden. What a find! Although the pub was very busy the landlady, found us somewhere to sit and got us all a beer and menu to peruse while we waited. She informed us that it would be about 40 minutes for the food as they were so busy but that was no problem. When the food came it was plentiful and piping hot and overall great quality home cooked pub grub (with proper vegetables which to me is always a sign that a place cares about food). Interestingly there looms to be no bar as such, the beer being drawn from kegs in the adjacent cellar. I can 't praise the landlady and staff highly e...

The owners kindly allowed up to have our run club monthly meet up here. As all 30 Spider Runners descending on them they swift dealt with orders and all were sat having drink and great food in a blink of an eye. Lovely quirky pub with a wonderful atmosphere. Had most of our runners vowing to come back with their families at a later date. Wonderful service and we all left happy, hopefully they will host us again. Five stars for everything.
I love this old quirky pub, the staff are always friendly and welcoming. If I’m over that way I will often try and pop in for a pint of real ale. And Ali a wine, we’ve there four or five times this year for lunch and il love the chicken wings and the fish finger sarnie on lovely fresh bread. We where there twice this weekend and hopefully again soon. There was the triumph car club there which was great to see to.
Beautiful historic pubs, lots of small rooms and famously ‘no bar’. Had a beautiful pint of Tring Brock Bitter, a lot of friendly locals when we went. All first name terms with the staff it seems who were also nice. The ploughman’s we had was okay, a lot of pickled bits and pieces in it. I think next time a more substantial meal as the couple next to us had a meal to make us jealous! Réservez une table maintenant
Looked for a decent place to eat while heading down the A1. Reviews looked good so rang and booked. Glad we did. Had roast lamb and it was lovely. They even had redcurrant jelly which lots of places don't. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the quirkiness of the place. Staff were friendly and we learnt a few mole facts!
The hospitality at this restaurant was exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed our delicious Sunday roast and would highly recommend dining here. The rooms we stayed in were impeccably clean and cozy. The staff were incredibly helpful and overall lovely people who made our experience even more enjoyable.
This pub has a distinctive character, keeping its original 19th century layout (with no bar!). The service is friendly and the pub fare is wholesome. It appears to be very popular, so it's recommended to make a reservation for dining. They are also dog friendly.
You would be pushed to find a more friendly pub than this the food is like mum makes real ales very friendly staff what more could you ask for in a small country pub stayed on campsite fab Réservez une table maintenant
I recently enjoyed Sunday lunch at this restaurant with a group of friends to celebrate a 90th birthday. The food and service were excellent. Well done Nick, Michelle, and team!
