Internally, the coffee house is very old and beautiful with walls of original stone. The service was excellent, but we were approached by six different girls asking what we wanted after we had already ordered. The menu is wide and varied with bacon rolls, baked potatoes, etc, but we opted for the home baking. The Victoria sponge was a delight : so light and fluffy. The caramel shortbread aka millionaires slice) was also very good. The black Americano coffee was nice, but my wife’s cappuccino coffee was very poor. It was served with the excuse that they had a new coffee machine but didn’t yet know how to use it. Not great. The cappuccino looked like a very poor flat white. No froth, no chocol...

We’ve been to this cafe a few times now since moving to Montrose and it never disappoints. The service is always welcoming, friendly and efficient and the food is always nice. I also love the feel of the place-set inside an extremely old building, it’s a very historic and interesting setting to enjoy a cuppa. The only complaint I have about our most recent visit is that the bill was handed to us at the same time as our food, which I always think feels like you’re being rushed (my husband actually made a joke about the waitress having written ‘Get out’ on the bill. This didn’t put us off at all and we didn’t feel rushed otherwise but just a bit of feedback.

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday, only to be kept waiting for about fifteen minutes before anyone thought to ask for our order. Waited another fifteen minutes for it to appear, only to find our food was stone cold and hadn't even ben heated through properly. Really, how difficult can it be for a catering establishment to produce two acceptable ham and cheese paninis? Sent them back and left, but not before we were still charged for a lemon tea and hot chocolate. That'll be the last money we spend here though, that's a certainty

On a rainy day we visited for lunch and had soup and a sandwich and tea. The soup was lovely and we would certainly recommend this cafe. It is tucked away to the left of what we were told was the Town Hall. The service was quick and the interior was clean and pleasant Highly recommended.
