This is a hidden gem slightly out of the town but one that is certainly worth a visit. My husband and I so enjoyed our meal a week ago that we revisited taking a local as our guest. She couldn't believe that having lived in Airlie for 15 years, she had never dined at the Colonial Palms restaurant and is determined to return.We enjoyed our original meal do much that we reordered it. The ceviche salad was delicious with a range of wonderful flavours and presented interestingly with sushi rolls. My husband chose the chinese - styled hoisin steak which was a tender piece of eye fillet served in a beautiful blackbean and garlic sauce accompanied by asian styled vegetables. Our Taxi driver recommended this Restaurant to us. As we were staying at there, we booked in for Dinner. Despite having a Coach full of travellers in, we had a lovely table on the verandah, overlooking Airlie Marina, received very attentive service and had a delightful meal ... fresh, wild Barramundi. We also had Breakfast here; was included in our room tariff. Nice choice of juices, cereals and toast, plus cooked breakfast available for a small additional cost. Great service, great setting and fantastic value for money. Highly recommend this restaurant.
On the first night we were there whilst the seating on the terrace was lovely, the meal was awful. My fish was 'slimy' and had bones and was COVERED in soy sauce. At our friends dinner at the restaurant ALL of the food was COVERED in soy sauce flavoring and we all joked that the birthday cake (made by the cook) was a 'soy sauce cake'. The other meal we had during our stay of a chicken curry tasted like SOY chicken and was gluey and sickening tasting...kitchen didn't look that 'clean' either
Can recommend a visit to Colonial Park Restaurant. Cosy place with friendly waiters - they made you feel welcome from the moment you stepped in, to you walked out. Good was really nice - slightly overcooked salmon, but still very pleasant to eat. Prices were very normal for Airlie Beach with main courses from $22-$41 - great selection of starters, mains and desserts. We only waited 20 min on food despite being a larger group of 8 people. Worth a visit :)

We were recommended this restaurant by the driver who did the airport transfer so we thought we would give it a go.We were pleasantly surprised just how good the food was.My chicken curry dish was everything I wanted. Full bodied flavours and a healthy sized plateful.Make sure you leave enough room for dessert as they're all amazing.That coupled with a nice ambience and great staff make for a great experience.Will be back for sure
We were recommended the restaurant in the colonial palms by 2 drivers during our trip so decided to check it out as we were also staying there. The food was great and the service / friendliness of the staff topped it off.
The restaurant is a bit off the beaten track. The meals are home style. Lamb shanks looked really good, and I had Osso Bucco which was very tasty
This restaurant should be sought out. It is located in a motel and is above the marine. Our dinners were excellent, well prepared and generous.
