"This very old quaint building is worth visiting for either a drink, meal or both. The bar and lounge area are very comfortable and clean. We went for a meal Friday lunch time, six of us.I had their delicious steak in ale pie with chips and peas, also shared a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon blanc. The bill was so reasonable, my main was only £7-95.Highly recommend"

We stayed for one night here as we were in the area celebrating a friends birthday. The accommodation is above the pub and when we arrived the lady was friendly and checked us in. When booking we didn’t request breakfast but they had included it for an extra £7 each. As this wasn’t until 9am they removed it from our bill as we had to leave at 8am the next day. The rooms are upstairs, no lift facility that I could see if you are with anyone with mobility issues or have heavy bags. The rooms are basic but appeared to be well looked after and clean. We didn’t have much time to inspect the room as we were heading straight out. We arrived back at our room at 1am. The bed was ok we had a king room...

We really enjoyed the food , only pub food scampi and chips hunters chicken but cooked well and tasty , very reasonable prices , the dinning room hmmm very miserable looking , it was a Saturday night and we were the only ones in there eating, harsh bright light , tables and furniture not set up at all, which really does not make it inviting such a shame as I think the room could be made lovely with a few table clothes and little tea lights on the tables , there was another couple on a table as an overflow from the pub section just sitting drinking , little odd mixture of decoration , this is a historic building with huge history a shame someone didn’t do their homework on the decoration side...

Visited with my husband and our friend for a quick meal and a catch up. I had the bacon and stilton burger which was lovely and the chips nice and crispy. The waitress was very knowledgeable when I asked if the burger came with any salad or sauce in and assured me they don 't and just a salad garnish on the side, perfect for me as I usually have to ask for it 'plain '. They were very happy to swap my husband 's peas for beans. I grew up in Thrapston and I 'm moving back in the new year, happy to have found somewhere local to eat

We were welcomed by lovely smiling bar staff and shown to our small but spotlessly clean room. As we live in France we were looking forward to some traditional English pub food and the menu was just what we were looking for. Again the two young girls who looked after us could not have been friendlier or more attentive and the food was superb. We had a great nights sleep and an excellent breakfast. Great value.
