At first glance, this may seem like any other rural pub offering typical pub fare. However, upon closer inspection, it proves to be much more than that. Unlike many establishments that simply reheat pre-packaged meals, this pub prepares their dishes using fresh ingredients. The owner, who is vegetarian, ensures there is always a satisfying selection of vegetarian dishes available, which are of high quality. While vegan options are also offered, we have yet to sample them.

It is unusual for a rural pub to offer a full vegan menu, but this one does. I tried the cauliflower fritters, which were more like deep-fried cauliflower strips. Although they lacked taste, they were still good. My wife had the delicious vegan meatballs and rice. My meal was a bit bland, so I suggest getting something sweet to balance it out, like the cauliflower fritters. Overall, it was a satisfying meal of pub grub that left us feeling very full.

On the face of it, this is just another country pub serving pub food. But when you look carefully, it turns out a lot better than that. This isn't just another place reheating bought-in chilled meals: they cook the food from fresh. The landlady is vegetarian, so there is always a decent choice of vegetarian food and it is good. There are vegan options, but we've not tried them yet.

Great vegan options on menu (when I was there chilli, mushroom frittatas and vegetable frittatas), great atmosphere and lovely owners! The Crossroads granted my request for a full vegan buffet for my birthday party and it went down a storm!
