We had a wonderful dining experience at The Crown last week. The appetizers on the specials board caught our eye, and we ended up sharing lobster fish cakes, duck spring rolls, and halloumi - all of which were delicious and beautifully presented. The menu was surprisingly extensive given the current post-covid restrictions, giving us plenty of options to choose from. For our main courses, I enjoyed a flavorful and filling five spiced chicken salad, while my husband loved his spicy prawn linguine. Thought would book Sunday lunch here as had great recent reviews. We weren't disappointed. Food was delicious and plentiful. All fresh too. Lovely and comfortable in pub. Felt sorry for guy working though! He was doing everything on his own! Serving behind bar, taking food orders, bringing meals out and clearing tables. All with a smile. Hope he appreciated?!! Lovely garden with swings in too . Have already recommended Crown to other friends and family.Will definitely be returning. Thanks for lovely afternoon.
Table for two booked through internet with email confirmation received, a very good start. ON arrival good parking facilities. Excellent bar with wide choice of draft ales and lagers, Lunch for two, choice of menu, one of which OAP. We selected from main menu. Warm welcome and attentive relaxed service. Excellent food delivered in good time, fab curry for me and baked potato tuna for my wife (with starter). And yes we will be visiting again, hopefully on a regular basis, and next time with friends.
Visited as part of a small group of friends for a Thursday lunch Great friendly welcome. Nice varied menu at sensible prices, swapping chips for salad was no problem nor was gluten free batter on the fish and chips. The sliced peppered steak was excellent and everyone in the party was impressed with the welcome, the quality of the food and the willingness to change items that were requested.

Chose The Crown as it was on the TasteCard website, nearby, and had good TA reviews. We were not disappointed. Good service, nice range of drinks, decent veggie options, and a calm/relaxed atmosphere. 100% recommend the veggie spring roll starter and the fish and chips (hubby described them as a the best fish and chips [I 've] had in ages . So pleased that we made a snap decision!
I recently visited the Crown for the second time and I absolutely love this village pub. It is perfect for a family outing or a quiet meal. The food is excellent and the service is top-notch. I didn't feel rushed at all and it was a great place to unwind. I highly recommend making a reservation for large groups. You won't be disappointed with the quality of the food.
The food was nicely presented and hot we couldn't fault the food. The lamb chop starter was nice a bit spicy for my husband's, the leek and potato soup was fresh and filling, and the somosa's were lovely. The mains fish platter and fish and chips were nice and fresh the curry was nice and full of flavour, the sausage and mash was nice although the mash was not fresh.
What a lovely find. We had only popped in late lunchtime for a drink and maybe a small snack. Having read the menu and seen the really good choices, we opted for the fish and Indian platters. We weren’t disappointed, the platters had 4 elements to them, and I have to say that we both enjoyed our meals. The pub appears to hold very interesting events.

The service was friendly and the food was delicious, with generous portion sizes so be mindful of that! This restaurant is a true village pub with a diverse menu offering plenty of options to choose from.
The crown is an old fashioned village pub comfortable food very good and the staff were excellent nothing to much trouble Would highly recommend The crown in Gawcott definitely go back.
