Only started visiting The Crown during the last couple of months after hearing excellent reports from friends. I now understand what all the fuss is about and it 's quickly become one of our favourites. Its probably underselling the place to call it 'pub grub ' because the food and service is up to the standard of any decent restaurant, except here you can also get a decent pint. Whether you 're a pie person or not you must try their beef pie best we 've had anywhere. In fact when we last visited on Christmas Eve all six adults in the group ordered the pie. This is not to suggest that all the other meals aren 't equally top notch. Will we visit again? don 't be daft, we all love the place.
the pub is lovely and a great cozy interior, however the food was extremely underwhelming. The menu was not great and the food was worse . I ordered the sea bass it came out cold and the sauce it was in tasted like blended up fish and cream . i couldn’t possibly finish this . the menu wasn’t good as there wasn’t a good choice or selection of food . When going to a pub you expect it to be pub food however it is the opposite. Don’t waste your time going here . not worth it
Family party of 5 celebrating an 80th birthday. The best home cooked meals for many a mile! The steak pie is always the firm favourite, but yesterday there were 4 different meals and each one equally delicious high quality as always. All piping hot. Staff were attentive, excellent service. We have been going here since our ‘courting days’ almost 40 years ago so wonderful that it is still going strong and still as fabulous! Well done to Mark and the team
What a lovely welcome. We have not been for a while but the welcome was great, very friendly and genuine. We had a lovely meal, the choices were excellent. We had pie, pheasant, scampi, and turkey, all great choices and all the plates were emptied. A lovely ambience. All the staff were great, and all very pleasant. I drank wine, but the other half had beer and he said it was a great pint. All in all a great night. Thank you all at the Crown. Réservez une table maintenant
Beautiful Sunday lunch 4/1. I had the beef my husband had the pork. All my favourite veg, cabbage green beans, carrots and cauli cheese. If I could afford to eat here every night I would. Lovely friendly staff, young and well trained. Best place around for Sunday lunch and always busy,
