The Dapper Spaniel

Dining room was only 1/4 full but noise level high due to hard surfaces throughout. Service was good, starters mains fine-good but desert of lemon posset was a large bowl of hard ? Which all 3 left hardly eaten. The appalling state of it was passed on to the waitress who stated she would pass comments to chef. We expected at least a credit to the bill but nothing so no tip was given. Cost £170 for 4 with drinks (no wine). Would return for a drink or bar meal but nothing further.

Food was good but service remains very slow 10/15 mins before order and then over 45 mins wait from order to receiving main course and a 30 min wait for a Bakewell tart dessert...... front of house staff were pleasant and apologetic (when food finally arrived) issue seems to be in the kitchen. We have eaten here 7 or 8 times now and have had the same issue each time. Food has always been really good, but please improve speed of service.

Visited on a Saturday evening at 6pm, so was very quiet. Lovely pub with very friendly service. Really enjoyed the food and was nice to find somewhere with both a good selection of food for adults and to accommodate my 3 year old. Would recommend

They cancelled on me 24 hours before going as they were doing bbq and neither l or my guests wanted bbq for Sunday lunch, they offered beef or lamb one of my party was vegetarian

This place is dog friendly in certain parts but best to check before. Friendly service and food good value with varied menu from steaks to sausage and mash to chef specials.
