we stopped here for a quick pint while we continue our trip to our parent house in ulverston for many years, and it is clear that this pub is infertile and has left the atmosphere the place. I understand that there was a change of the hands...sometimes it takes one to find the new administration away. what I think was the manager who greeted us with a cloud of smoke at the door (not very professional, especially this day and age), offered some, but not all natives a 20% discount. again not very professional to discuss this before people who pay full whack. arrogant. the manager was more concerned about their local people than all others. it felt uncomfortable to watch people waiting for drin...

Seven of us had lunch here. The menu had very little choice and would have benefited with the inclusion of a few spicey or veggie items. All of us opted for the steak. This was a misteak'. At £25 a pop it was woefully overpriced...given that the meat lacked tenderness and was a stranger to a marinade. Pub building pleasant and open fires attractive. Staff attentive but lacking in gumption:crammed us on to an under-sized table when a larger one was available; had to be asked for obvious utensils such as serving spoons...... Would return for a pint but not for a steak that you could get in any decent London restaurant for a lower price. Hope the landlord reads this review and draws the necessa...
After a tiring day, we opted for pub food, but all of our usual spots were fully booked due to the Easter week. We stumbled upon this pub, which seemed popular among locals. Despite it being quiz night, they had a good selection of ales at the bar. Unfortunately, the food left much to be desired. The service was lacking, the fish was overcooked and the chips were burnt. The soup was too mushy, and the tartar sauce had an off taste. It was quite disappointing how they managed to get everything so wrong.
I was staying at the nearby campsite and visited this restaurant six nights in a row for drinks and food. The selection of drinks was good, although they didn't have Bacardi, the gin and tonic was excellent. The restaurant had a cozy old-fashioned pub vibe and the staff were lovely. The portions were large and the restaurant was very dog-friendly. I can't wait to come back. Thank you so much! Réservez une table maintenant
Booked a table for dinner for us and our dog, staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. We were seated by the fire, really cosy and welcoming. Food was good, both main and desert. Would highly recommend the Sunday roast which we had on...a previous visit, one of the best I've had, it was delicious. The portions are generous, you won't leave feeling hungry. Thank you for an enjoyable meal
book for Sunday dinner . very friendly staff . dog-friendly almost all tables had very good behave dogs. Sunday lunch was excellent enough brittle meat, huge yorkshire pudding .kartoffeln and a dish of veg and jug of gravy. Beautiful...Atmosphere life was excellent we had 2 desert apples and cinnamon crushed with custard abd sticky toffe pudding excellent meal
Visited again yesterday for their Sunday dinner. Beef, potatoes and large Yorkshire with individual gravy jug plus shared carrots with parsnips, broccoli with cabbage and cauliflower cheese. Pipping hot and great service- no room for their sticky toffee pudding which is enough to share!! Well...worth a visit plus the welcome dogs too- cheers
We are local and met friends here tonight for tea. Was lovely environment, friendly staff and even though it was busy we were looked after. The meal was hot and freshly cooked we all enjoyed our food. I had scampi and the tartare sauce was...delicious. Was an enjoyable evening and we will return Réservez une table maintenant
This local pub is absolutely fantastic. The food is top-notch, great value for the price, and the atmosphere is down-to-earth. They offer a selection of real ales and the staff is excellent. I can't find any faults with this place.
My friend and I stayed for a night and the staff were lovely. Thank you David for the lovely breakfast.
