Came today for Sunday lunch after being recommended by friends. Really wish we had gone elsewhere. Tables are crammed in, uncomfortable and small. Service was poor. We had to flag down a staff member to order drinks and then flag another down 15 minutes later to order food. No one came and checked if our food was ok. It wasn't. The meat was dry, over cooked and flavourless. The roast potatoes were old tasting. Yorkshire pudding was a thick, doughy pancake. Veg was hard Gravy mediocre Cauliflower cheese had just had some cheese waved at it! Everything was lukewarm and tasted like it had been cooked hours ago and left on a hot plate. We had planned to stay for pudding but didn't bother. Every...

Great place for Sunday roast and family get-togethers. We came here for a birthday get together and everybody cleared the plates with very fussy grandchildren. This was good to see been here a few times and it never disappoints book a table early. It’s gets very busy and when you see the food and taste it you can understand why. I do feel it’s somewhat understaffed at busy times, but that’s the nature of a country pub slow pace. The outside space, has grown since our last visit and very child and dog friendly. There were 12 of us for Sunday roast and the food came out hot and on time we will return.
We used to love visiting the Dog house but it has been lacking more recently. We met friends for drinks after Christmas and I ordered a Pinot Grigio. When it arrived the smell from my glass was very strong and initially made me think the wine was off but then I realised the glass was just really dirty and that’s what I was smelling. My husband ordered another round and noticed the server at the bar was wiping the glasses with a filthy tea towel which probably explained the smell. It’s a shame as this used to be a great local pub! It seems they need training in environmental health issues
Friendly people upon arrival sat in nice area food didn't take to long to come out roast beef was stringy chewy and hard to eat so didn't finish it waited for someone to come check on the food but no one turnt up for at least 45 minutes after we finished. And when they came to clear the table I said the beef was horrible chewy and tough to eat and all I got was a glum look and she walked of and then add salt to injury on the menu its £12.95 but when I got the bill it was £13.95 and not a sorry for the meal nothing and completey rude so won't be eating there again as the pub was not busy Réservez une table maintenant
Beautifully succulent and tender burger, soft bun with perfectly cooked chips. The beer flows (Camden pale on draught) and the service is top notch! The pub is dog friendly and has a really good atmosphere inside. There is a terrace with private bench seating and garden seating close to a children’s play area. Perfect for the summer, delightful for the winter it’s perfect all year arround! Lauren (the chef) and the bar staff have out done themselves. We will return, many times.
I would highly recommend this place. The food was excellent as was the service. The food was served in an appropriately good time and the prices were commendable. They are currently undergoing some refurbishments by the way of an extension, but this didn't interfere with the experience whatsoever.
We booked at 10:30 and sat down in the bar area at 14:00, very good portion sizes, very good food and very reasonably priced, all plates cleared and gravy mopped up with the extra Yorkshires we ordered. Would definitely go back for a roast on a Sunday.
The steak Berger was ok, the chips where nice however the onion rings that came with the burger had a heavy vinegar taste and it wasn’t just for me that it tasted that way. It was nice to have a place where the dog could be with us Réservez une table maintenant
