Came across this cafe and decided to go in as they were okay with dogs. First impressions were the decor wasn't my thing but that's just me... You might like it! The majority of the place looked clean, however there were a few points me and my partner noticed; the covers for the chairs were very dirty and it wasn't fresh dirt either. The salt, pepper and sugar pot on the table were visibly dirty so we weren't really comfortable using them tbh. I didn't find the place great value for money, it was overpriced for what it was but the breakfast was cooked well so I have no complaints on the food quality but it didn't fit the price. We stopped in while on a work trip in the area today, we hadn’t booked but The Dutchess staff didn’t blink an eye and soon moved a couple of tables to accommodate our party of seven there are not many places that that would happen these days. The menu is fairly small but plenty to choose from and whilst there was a little bit of a wait for food it was clear that everything was freshly cooked to order and worth waiting for. My chai latte was probably the best I have ever had. The food was very reasonably priced and we all left feeling grateful that our initial plans of somewhere to eat had fallen through. I’ve been coming here since they opened in 2018, it’s always been a homely place for me, I had my baby shower there and have taken my little one there often, the staff have watched her grow up and have always been super friendly and so welcoming. We’ve been here for a catch up with friends, family meals, hungover Sunday breakfast. The food is absolutely amazing (big shout of to the Glamorgan veggie sausage toastie 1000/10) it’s a beautiful addition to our town and I would most definitely recommend if you’re visiting Brecon. Very nice ambience, tastefully decorated and excellent, polite and well turned out staff. We had afternoon tea which was faultless, a great selection and plenty of fare. If you want to experience afternoon tea as it should be I wouldn't hesitate to visit this bistro restaurant. One thing I did appreciate is that fact that they allow well behaved dogs, they even provide bowls of water for them. Not cheap but worth the experience. Réservez une table maintenant
This is a lovely wee coffee shop. The décor is really nice and the tables laid with proper cloths. They were busy when we popped in but we managed to get a table. The service was ok, the staff were ok, the coffee was ok, but a smile could have gone a long way to make everything so much better. I know they were busy but hey, it's what they do. Being busy makes the till ring, so don't be dour, be happy.
The orange cake at this restaurant is delicious. The hot chocolate and milkshake are so indulgent that they should come with a health warning - topped with a generous amount of whipped cream, they are perfect for those with a sweet tooth! There is a wide variety of cakes and drinks available as well. A visit to this restaurant in Brecon is definitely worth it.
I had a delightful dining experience at this charming restaurant. The lamb cawl was absolutely delicious and had a generous amount of meat. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. I highly recommend paying a visit to this restaurant. I am excited to return to Brecon soon for another delightful day and a bowl of their tasty cawl.
