"Got takeaway. Service was a bit slow and they nearly forgot our spring rolls. The food was good but I found my vegetable chow mien a bit tasteless. Would eat here again, but only if Jimmy's Place was closed."

We recently had the opportunity to dine out at the East Kitchen and were blown away by the food presentation, variety and flavour..as an example the entree was something we have never experienced before and was listed on the menu as Mongolian Shredded Lamb with silver thread loaf..the rest of our meal which we ordered for four persons was of the highest standard in large servings. We advise that people should not be put off by the outside view of the East Kitchen nor should it be compared with other more up market looking restaurants in the area...value for money was way above our expectations...Rebecca the Chinese lady operates this business with her brother (as Chef) is to be commended for h...

Work group of 7 friends ate here on Wednesday night. Excellent fresh, hot (not luke warm) dishes delivered by a truly lovely lady. Service was quick enough. Satay sticks rate a 5 stars for me. The chicken in plum sauce was light, fresh, subtly sweet and not drowned in batter. The pork in black bean was beautifully tender. My companions all gave 5 stars for their dishes (2 had sizzling ones which looked awesome). Prices were good too. Definitely going back. Don't be put off by lack of decor. This place is a hidden gem and worth a visit.

We have eaten here numerous times with our large family group and each time we try something new. The flavours of the food just get better! We can highly recommend this restaurant. Don't be put off by the tucked away location or the bland décor - it's really worth the effort to dine here. Be patient if the service is a tad on the slow side (but not overly slow) - it will be worth the wait. Your host will thank you numerous times for coming to her establishment and you will leave as friends.

I was in Canberra overnight looking for somewhere to have dinner and came across The East Kitchen in Dickson. This is an unpretentious restaurant in a centre where there are several dining establishments. I found the meal excellent and at $25 for soup and main course quite reasonable by today's standards. The staff were friendly without being intrusive and the experience overall enjoyable. Recommended for anyone looking for good Asian meals at a reasonable price. Réservez une table maintenant

Located just of the main Dickson strip is this wonderful family run restaurant. Whilst the décor is retro the meals are made by a master chef with his experience earned around the world. Don't expect super fast service as it takes time to make everything to an exact standard. One of the best restaurants around disguised buy its back street location and original décor. Having dined here around 10 times now I will be back 1000 more.

It was late on a sat night and I was looking for a place to eat. I saw the restaurant was open and decided to give it a go. The super friendly and patient staff explained some of the dishes I was keen on. I tried the chicken chow mein that was recommended by the sweet old lady owner. The food was very good and portions were large as well. A positive experience and must visit!! :)

Great hidden gem in Dickson. The decor is honest and casual. Freshly made dumplings and steamed pork buns and very tasty, authentic dishes. Service was very attentive and courteous, staff have great recommendations if you're not sure what to order. There is only one chef so wait time is slightly longer than usual restaurants but it is worth it! Highly recommended.

We had dinner here, a group of 10. We thought the food was very very good. Fresh, tasty and good quality Asian food. It is BYO and it is ran by a sister and brother. Service could get a little slow but give it a go because the food is good and cheap. Réservez une table maintenant

Best Asian cuisine I've ever had! So authentic. Service was so friendly and open for conversation. Second time we've been there and both times the food has been exceptional! It's a promise that we'll be back next time we're in Canberra.
