My wife and I had dinner with another couple on a Saturday night during Winterlicious. We all sampled the Winterlicious 3-course prixe fixe. Two had the Beet Carpaccio salad and two had the Shrimp Royale with gravalax. The beet carpaccio got 2 thumbs up. The shrimp royale was good but not great. They’d made a terrine of sorts witht he shrimp and neigher of us felt it had much flavour. But it looked beautiful. Two had Salmon Wellington as their mains. 2 thumbs up. I took a client to The Fifth as a way to say thank you for their business. Attention to detail gets me every time! We were pleasantly surprised that our request of a more intimate table brought us to a private elevated area with a little gate to get in where our table sat for just the two of us, surrounded by lanterns! LOVED IT!! Our waiter was exceptional and was quick to note when our wine glasses needed refilled. We had no trouble polishing off the bottle of wine. We totally enjoyed the food and service. Menu is designed to be shared and is totally flexible on portions. Our server suggested the steak tartare, which we wouldn't have selected on our own and it was amazingly good. We shared the lobster bisque entrée and then the tartare appetizer and then shared the duck entrée. We had the hazelnut dacquoise which was very delicious. Our party of four, recently dined at "The Fifth," to celebrate a birthday. We were not disappointed. The lobster bisque is to die for, along with the lobster risotto and the duck magret. Everything on the menu is available in small and large portions. Suggested wine pairings are also offered to go with each dish in three and six ounce pourings. The wines are excellent choices to pair with the food, at a reasonable price.
Taking the time to dine at the Fifth Terrance is something you won't regret. Try their coursed menu and share between couples. From the service, to the decor, & ambitious this is an easy five stars.
Great night out with colleagues and friends. Food was good, music was good and drinks were too but a bit expensive. Convenient parking.
This quirky restaurant is a hidden jewel in Toronto and when JP is in the kitchen the evening is always special.
