Halverson's restaurant, The Fisherman's Hideout, truly excels at serving fish—whether it's fried, fresh, smoked, or included in their chowder, every dish is delightful. And let's not forget that amazing deep-fried roll! The customer service was exceptional as well; they warmly welcomed our birthday gathering of 17 people with smiles all around. Thank you, Halverson's, for the fantastic meal and for being so accommodating. I can't wait to come back soon!
As recommended by a local, we went out of our way to detour here for lunch. SO worth the beautiful drive. I've never had a better fish sandwich. Staff were super friendly, inside was clean and updated, food was timely and fresh. We arrived early in the season, before their freezers were stocked, but I look forward to detouring here every time I come to Madeline Island to stock up.I also heard they cater, which is great to know.
Fantastic white fish dinner. The fish, harvested right here from Lake Superior, is lightly battered and fried to perfection. The hand cut fries are superb. Fish and fries come out good and hot, offset with the cool homemade coleslaw. A homemade dinner roll tops it all off. Can eat inside or out or the patio, or carry it down to the beach for lakeside dining. Fills me up completely.
Any restaurant with around 10 dishes should really have their act together, and the Hideout certainly does! The fried whitefish was incredible. The kids even declared their chicken tenders to be the best they had all vacation (they tried them at every restaurant we visited). We would have loved to return, but unfortunately, they’re only open two days a week. Réservez une table maintenant
Greasy fries, all the breading fell off the fish, dirty tables, the only good thing was the Cole slaw, not worth the money, it was all you can eat and we had a few pieces and left very very disappointed. Bot me and the wife said it was the worse all you can eat we ever had,
