The meal was great for all of us despite a number of our top choices being off the menu, due to a late delivery from the supplier. It was therefore a challenging lunchtime for the manager, who took 20% off the bill and apologised...for the ‘shambles’ although to repeat, we couldn’t fault the meal we had, and the difficulties were beyond his control. For us the real shambles was the chronic, indifferent service. We had chosen this pub after online research and a phone call, and booked a table. We needn’t have bothered. No one checked the booking, we were told to sit anywhere, pick up some menus on the way and order at the bar. Yes, welcome to The Fleet, thank you so much for booking. The youn...

We have lived in the village for over 20 years and seen many changes to this lovely riverside pub. Butcombe have recently taken over and have done a great job of the refurbishment. When weather allows you have the options for outside and inside dining....We have had three meals here recently and on every occasion we have been greeted on arrival and shown to our table. The tables are always well presented with quality cutlery and cut glass tumblers for the water which is offered freely. The prices are a little high so we make full use of our Butcombe loyalty card. When dining before Christmas we were given sealed envelopes for a discount off food in January-March. We have just used ours and h...

The Fleet is a Butcombe Brewery pub that offers a loyalty card. We stayed in a beautiful and spacious room for £65 with a bed and breakfast offer, with an additional £10 charge for our dog. We enjoyed a complimentary birthday bottle of Prosecco on the terrace courtesy of Butcombe. To qualify for the reduced Sunday offer, we had to spend over £50 in the restaurant. The starter was missing cutlery, but it was quickly rectified when we asked. The main course took longer than expected to arrive, and we had to remind the staff. The food was tasty, with a good selection of beer and wine. The management and staff's attentiveness played a significant role in our overall experience. A few improvement...

came for a walk and Sunday dinner. I usually don't go out for sunday roasts because I always find them disappointing. the roast in the car park was the first I had in a long time, which was delicious and good. I'm veggie so normal. find myself, I'd better have thought of staying at home and doing it myself if I had lunch. not the fall here fresh and well cooked vegetables, large vege wellington and delicious gravy. cartoffels could have been craspier, and I would like to have a bit more cauliflower cheese (it was delicious) but otherwise fab. good size also (restoration room for desert.) I also found the personal friendly and efficient, and it is a beautiful location at the flow. Réservez une table maintenant

The restaurant has a beautiful setting and the roast was decent. We came with a large family group and pre-ordered our meals. However, the service was really poor. While the prices were high, it would have been nice not to have to constantly ask for things like water or dessert. The bar staff appeared inexperienced and the overall service seemed unfriendly and slow. Everyone appeared stressed or indifferent. Overall, the table service for our Easter Sunday meal was subpar.

We came with mother for light lunch. No light lunches available. Setting is lovely , obvious advantage of river views. However, can't rely just on that. No senior staff at all. Entirely staffed by very young , untrained teens with no experience. Not particularly friendly...either. Food very average but just ok. I asked for ice and lime, I did not get it, and coffees cold. Needs to shape up and not just think the view will override all mistakes

We paid £14.50 for the Ploughman's lunch today . This consisted of one thin slice of sourdough bread , small portions of ham and cheese served up with chutney which was infact red currant jelly and a few other items of no significant...portions . We asked for some extra bread but only one more piece arrived . its always so disappointing to get such poor value for money when dining out .

the place is great with magnificent view, but drinks are expensive. we ordered the crab and the garnel linguine it was a mere ration that was connected by its pale taste and the lack of crabs! the personal was uninterested and inattentive. a disappointing experience and a bad value for...Money Réservez une table maintenant

If there is one place that reflects its location in its pricing, this is it. Undoubtedly a beautiful setting, but they don't deliver value for the money they charge.
