We had an intimate wedding reception here and I truly recommend them! It was easy coordinating with Laura. She responded to our emails quickly, and she was so knowledgeable with wedding details, you could tell she is experienced! We had some kids who were overlooked by their parents and were going out of our venue and were entering into the lounge, and Laura is so polite to remind us about it. Colleagues in Winnipeg arranged a business dinner at The Gates last week, and we had a very positive experience. The setting is lovely, an eclectic combination of down-home charm and elegance. The menu, while not particularly adventurous, offers enough variety for most appetites (though we were disappointed that no game was available on the evening we were there).<br/ <br/ They clearly specialize in beef, and it showed in the quality of the tenderloin that several people at our table enjoyed. The Gates on Roblin is an excellent venue for a special date night. My SO took me here for our anniversary last weekend. I have nothing but positive to say about it! Friendly service, excellent food and ambient! <br/ <br/ We had a double cream brie to start. It was served with kale pesto, roasted garlic, apples, sliced almonds. Just went for a company Xmas lunch at the gates. First time there always a bit nervous about trying new places like this. I always have it in the back of my mind now that attending with a group will equal limited menu (Thx Pineridge Hollow for making me such a bitter soul. Amazing. The title says it all. The service was excellent, the facility was beautiful and, the food, simply amazing.<br/ <br/ We went as a group of 8 from my workplace for a holiday dinner together and I ordered the 10oz prime rib. One member of our party found her prime rib a little undercooked for her taste but they immediately took it back and remedied the situation.<br/ <br/ I have since booked another reservation there for my wife and I as I am looking forward to sharing my fantastic experience with her.
We'll Be Back. This was our first time having Sunday Brunch at The Gates and it was worth every dollar of the $35 per plate cost. This is one of the best brunches I've been at in years! The selection is unbelievable, including both an omelette crepe bar, made fresh as you wait. We were blown away. The ambiance is wonderful.
Have you ever noticed that you can almost always predict what a dining experience is going to be like, by the bread basket? And in this case, with savoury premise-baked pasties, we anticipated that our evening at The Gates would be perfect and it was. The perfect evening started with a great Canadian Merlot.
