Husband and I went to Berko last night to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. Popped into The Crown for a drink before we went for meal and went to the bar. It wasn’t particularly busy, there was one lady being served and us waiting. There were 3 staff members behind the bar and not really sure what they were doing but not one of them acknowledged us. We were completely ignored. Then two other gentlemen came to the bar to be served and one of the girls behind the bar apologised for keeping him waiting and said she would be with him in a minute! I visited The Crown on a Sunday evening for a couple of drinks with friends. We sat in the garden terrace as it was a pleasant evening; the pub was not overly busy for a summer evening. We used the app to order food and a cheeky dessert. In this case, the food arrived before the drinks. The second round we purchased took over 20 minutes to arrive. I spoke to a member of staff in regard to this wait, to which I was told “there’s a massive backlog” there were two orders showing on the system. I was also informed that they had been sent out and delivered; this turned out to be true, it was just not to our table. It appears that they require more, or maybe just more competent, staff.
OMG! What on earth?? Advertised open till 12pm. No admittance after 11pm although not advertised as such. But the unnecessary heavy handed attitude of the door staff who were unable to explain their decision. Manager was asked for who stood by door staff. It felt very upsetting as we’ve frequented regularly without this confrontation in the past? Don’t understand how our night ended this way. But feel very sour that we were deemed trouble makers.
the bouncer treated us so poorly by allowing everyone to cut in line. I've never been so appalled by bouncers talking to me before. By even shouting at me to “shut my noise” I’ve never been so disgusted with such a place if they’re willing to have staff like that, says it all. absolutely disgusting and will not be returning I wouldn't return to this place under any circumstances due to the worst two bouncers I’ve ever met. As someone who’s worked in security the lady on the door is horrendous! Was waiting for a taxi home and asked if she alright… she was obnoxious and arrogant. She’s already been sacked from the white heart in Hemel old town for being rude. She’s clearly in the wrong line of work. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. Have reported to the pub personally. SIA have been informed.
Decent little pub but the female doorwoman who works on the weekend is absolutely destroying that place. I thought maybe it was just me that always seems to have a run in with her but speaking to friends in the town it seems everyone gets the same treatment. I wouldn't mind but we are all in our 40s and are polite where we go in.
Ordered the 3 plates for £13.50. They were discounted to £12 happy with that. I had loaded chips, chicken bits and mini pizza. Food was basic but as always, did the job. You really can’t grumble at the price vs quantity. The Berkhamsted Wetherspoons is so much nicer than the one in Hemel Hempstead.
Just got served by one of the rudest members of staff ever. Blond and glasses and just foul. I’m not the only one who has encountered this hostility from behind the ramp. This individual would be better suited working in a coal mine not customer facing. Ignorant !!!!! Réservez une table maintenant
