Took my partner for his birthday lunch here, one of our favourite places to celebrate/ I had a G &T [5.50] and my partner enjoyed two large glasses of House Sauv Blanc [13.60]. We enjoyed two large portions of pork scratchings [3.00] and I had the 'dish of the day ' Whole Plaice served with some delicious accompaniments [16.75] and my partner enjoyed his Duck breast [21.00] with a side order of chips [3.50]. We finished with two Panna cotta [14.00]. Our delightful waiter also realised we were celebrating a birthday and brought courtesy of the chef/owner, a delicious chocolate brownie with ice cream for my partner! Finally we drank a cappuccino and a flat white [5.00]. Total bill was £82.35 t...
So disappointed. Had a fabulous Sunday lunch not so long ago, what has gone wrong? Really limited menu, struggled to order,but the courgette fritters were ok. Cod for main was bland to be honest, nothing on the dessert menu appealed. Waitresses looked as though they would like to be anywhere but there. An alarming amount of flies buzzing around us, and it was so hot, not the restaurant’s fault I know, but still off putting. An hours drive for us, so don’t think we will rush back, which is a shame as we love the venue.
We discovered the George when we walked to Cavendish from Clare and were looking for somewhere to have lunch before setting off back to Clare. The food was so delicious and the staff so friendly that we booked for dinner the next evening and visited again on the Saturday with other members of our family. The food on each occasion was truly delicious and if we lived in the area would certainly visit the George regularly.
We had an excellent leisurely Saturday lunch. Freshly cooked, good choice of courses. Good quality food, plenty of flavour and decent portions. Waitresses were very attentive and nothing to much trouble. Everyone’s meal arrived at the same time. Couldn’t fault anything. Will be back.

This place was listed where staying on their info sheet. Wasn't disappointed. Booked on line, greeted pleasantly and shown to our table. Food excellent, but small portions. So Need to order starter and later perhaps a sweet. Nice atmosphere and decor.
The Sunday lunch here was excellent and the chef went over and above to provide an off menu vegan Sunday lunch, which was absolutely delicious. Will definitely visit again very soon.
We visited the other mid week night as a walk in. The place has a real quality feel and the food was really special. We could not fault I would book with confidence.
Delicious food in a lovely old country pub with modern decor. Had colouring for the kids and a great location on the green. The fish was delicious as was the wine

Lewis’ food is incredible.. what a host. Hannah was absolutely brilliant. She made us so comfortable. Absolutely amazing place. Will be back soon! xxx
