Upon entering The Gourmet Pig, we noticed that the cafe was not very busy. There was a gentleman being served at the counter and another customer seated at a table with her mother. We ordered a coffee, tea, and a sausage roll, paid, and were instructed to sit down as our order would be brought to us. However, we ended up waiting and waiting as others came in, were served, and left. When I inquired about our order, the server seemed unaware of what we had ordered. The service was disappointing and neglectful. The cafe was in need of a thorough cleaning, with cobwebs and dust present throughout, and the cutlery was dirty. Popped in planning to buy quite a lot of stuff for a party (cheese, booze etc. Waited 11 minutes (i counted at the counter while three people behind it fannied about with bits of paper so I just left my stuff on the counter and walked out. Despite the fact they're almost on my doorstep, I'll be driving elsewhere to buy stuff from now on
Loved this place we only popped in for a snack but ended up ordering a bit more as it all looked so nice and was a very reasonable price! I’m only sad that we discovered it near the end of our trip to the area, as I would defo have gone back to try everything else on the menu….! Will definitely go again when we visit.
One surly man serving who didn 't even acknowledge us on entry, despite me saying hello. Actually serving is not accurate as he went to deal with one or two customers at the counter and we were just left sat with no indication of how long he would be . We got up and left and went to Mannings, which was brilliant ! Réservez une table maintenant
I entered the restaurant and was disappointed by the lack of warmth from the staff. There was no smile, no greeting, and no thank you when I placed my order. It doesn't take much to be polite. As a local, it would have been nice to feel welcomed. This experience makes me hesitant to return.
