This restaurant is a hidden gem in Lincoln. The atmosphere is very cozy, the food is phenomenal and very affordable and the service is top notch. Our waitress, Kelsey, was very friendly, professional and helpful. I have a gluten allergy and she made sure I was able to order something that was safe for me and that the kitchen knew I had a severe allergy. She really made our experience outstanding! The staff admirably handled a very busy Monday evening. Those without reservations were told honestly how long they would likely wait and they subsequently went elsewhere. I was impressed that they accommodated two solo diners (with reservations) and that they seated us far apart. Server Meagan was informative (different specials), patient (I really wanted to sit and just savor that well-made martini; she agreed), and attentive. My family recently revisited The Green Gateau after not going for a few years. We had made a reservation in advance, and upon arrival, we were promptly seated. Our waitress, Madi, was friendly and took the time to explain the day’s specials. For an appetizer, we decided to try the Brussels sprouts with candied walnuts. While I was skeptical about the combination, it turned out to be better than I anticipated. My mom had the croque monsieur accompanied by a side of lobster bisque. Just not a great experience. We arrived at a time that wasn’t busy, party of 4. We were offered a wine tasting, 3 yes, took 10 minutes to get them. We were not asked if for drink orders, we ordered them when we ordered our salads. Salads arrived before the drinks. The meals were very subpar. Bland to be honest. 2 ordered steaks cooked the same at medium rare. 1 rare and the other medium. Flavor wasn’t great. We spent over $200 but feel we would have got better service and food for half the price at Texas Roadhouse.

This is our choice of one of the best dining Lincoln has to offer. The food took me back to Ischia with the best combination of mussels and little neck clams with fettuccine. Simply mouth wateringly delicious. The service was excellent, the wine and desserts perfect. The rib eye, beef wellington, and salmon risotto were choices that were highly appreciated and recommended by my wife and friends for a future visit.
Always a nice experience. We had the burger and salad with chicken. Good size portions. Our server Elliott was top notch ‘! The only downside was the men's bathroom could use a little attention. I put a lot of rating on a restaurant bathroom because as the bathroom goes, so does the safety of the food. Everyone (staff/customers) use the same facilities. Otherwise Green Gateaux gets a solid nod from me.
Lived in Lincoln for 25 years, moved away 40+ years ago. Every time I'm home I go to the Green Gateau! The food is always superb, consistent high quality and fresh ingredients. The service is always top drawer here, this past weekend (7/20-21) we were lucky enough to get Ben, a marvelous waiter! Lincoln is very fortunate to have the Green Gateau, truly a Great Restaurant and Treasure for Lincoln!
Our waitress was a delight! Very personable and professional. As a celiac, it was great having items on the menu labeled gluten-free and vegan. Most importantly, the food was delicious! The parchment-baked flounder special and the shrimp risotto were perfect. A lovely dinner altogether!

The Reuben sandwich was expensive but very average. The fries were great. I always love the salmon risotto but that was not available. Bummer. I've tried several things on the menu all average.
A special place to meet friends and share a delicious meal. Prices seem reasonable for the great quality and substantial portions.
