After being here once before and finding it “weird” service today was shocking. We had to queue for a long time to get in despite the restaurant being extremely quiet at 3pm. We were then told to order at the bar my husband joined this second long queue and was told that he shouldn’t queue there as he was blocking a walkway, others were not told. We then overhead a member of staff saying that the bar was a mess and apologising to a customer that they couldn’t serve drinks as no one had washed up. I got up and told my husband we were leaving. It appears this cafe has deteriorated and not only is hot food not edible but the service provided is terrible. Senior staff are aggressive when feedback is given about the poor quality, and they are not interested in resolving complaints. If you go, and I'd recommend you don't, then eat the cold food at the moment they can just about get that right, but if you risk the hot food honestly don't waste your breath complaining the owner doesn't care about bad reviews and is not interested in keeping good paying customers. I visited this restaurant for breakfast and was not impressed. We were seated at table 1, which was located right next to the kitchen. The noise from the kitchen sound system was so loud that the walls were reverberating. We both ordered the full English breakfast, but we were disappointed with the quality. The sausage was overcooked and tough, the mushrooms were bland, the fried potatoes seemed to be from a frozen bag, and the eggs were nearly undercooked. As a regular customer, I visit this restaurant every few months and am always amazed by the mixed reviews. Today, a friend and I went for breakfast and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I was initially hesitant about paying £8.25 for avocado toast, but it was surprisingly delicious and expertly prepared. My friend opted for eggs royale, which was served on a muffin with smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce. The restaurant is spacious and there is no pressure to rush and give up your table. Terrible cold food and when we pointed out that the plates were ice cold as well as the food a lady called nicola said no they are not , anyway u have tried the food so it couldn 't be that bad by son had eaten a corner of a piece of bacon and my nephew one mouth full and then she proceeds to stuck her fingers in 3 peoples plates we asked for a refund on 2 of the 6 meals and we were told no way ' .I can honestly say we have never been treated so poorly anywhere a very disappointing experience never to be repeated.
Very disappointed. Surroundings do not match the quality of the food and service. Chipped and dirty crockery, dry burgers. Plates not cleared. Nobody asked how everything was so no chance to complain. Pot of tea for 2 is a joke. Avoid the chips as you pay extra but not worth it. They may also need to check dates on the sauces as the salad cream looked like it had been there a while. Sadly an Overpriced experience.
My 3 Sisters I had Afternoon tea, it was amazing, Sandwiches were fresh lovely variety of fillings, beautifully arranged on a slate platter. The Scones were absolutely delicious just the best very fresh. Nothing worse than a stale scone. A good selection of cake too. The waitress service no complaints. We will be back. Well worth the money too.
Ordered ham egg and chips, chips were undercooked and eggs were cold. Complained to the assistance who arranged replacements. Second meal supplied chips were like warm and eggs again cold. Most of food was left, complimented on the way out, no refund offered. Assistant stated she would speak to the chef. We will not visit again. Réservez une table maintenant
We visited on Sunday for afternoon tea with my parents. Absolutely excellent, great selection of sandwiches, crisps, cakes and fresh scone. Service was quick and friendly. I would definitely recommend and will be going back. Sorry no photo was too busy enjoying the food.
