Visited the Horseshoe for the first time for a get together with old friends over a bite to eat, and had a very pleasant evening. There was a decent selection of ales on tap including Timothy Taylor's Landlord, Hawkstone IPA, Tring Brewery mild, I had the cod chips for my meal and it was excellent, a lovely piece of cod perfectly cooked served with very tasty minty peas. Superb. I think everyone else was pleased with their food, especially those who ordered the rack of ribs. The whole pub has stone/tiled flooring, and the decor is a little spartan, these combined don't help with acoustics, so I can see that at times some may find it a little noisy. Valentine lunch. I had the lamb roast and my husband the cod and gourmet chips. Both were cooked to perfection which is such a rare thing. The chef cooked the meat, the fish and the vegs just right, the service was very good and we had a lovely game of cheese skittles afterwards. This lunch couldn't have gone better, spread the word!
what a pleasure to find a pub that was able to offer a complete frying dinner that was free of wheat/gluten and milk, they also offer free brot and teig for cod, I am unbearable where weeping and diary are concerned and they really picked me up, I will go back definitiw and that was nice:
we had an excellent beef Sunday, all freshly cooked. I didn't want the taste of bark meat ever left, it was shameful. then we had a dessert and cheeseboard also ingenious. great prices, good parking excellent service. we will be coming back

We stopped off for impromptu Sunday lunch, while driving back to Bedford. Food was excellent, lovely friendly staff absolutely no problem having our dog with us.
I and my wife stumbled over this place yesterday on a running gear, nice place good eating and beer and fantastic customer service
