First off, we love our local pub and since its been renovated even more so. Wonderful place to relax, drink and enjoy. However, the last two time eating there have left us disappointed. First off, since Gambas Pil Pil was introduced to the menu it...was such a fantastic dish that reminded us of being in Spain on a beach enjoying a simple garlic and chilli prawn dish. Massive fresh juicy prawns in loads of garlic and chilli infused oil with bread to mop. We have had way too many of the dish because its delicious. The last two times ordering this, very poor. Big juicy fresh prawns swapped for frozen chewy and dry counterparts. That introduces water into the oil which was limited and completely...
Had Xmas lunch here for people...they at first put us in what I can only describe as a cupboard people didn't have seats and those that did was sat in top of each other and they started serving starters ...hadn't offered the entrance...mulled wine... After complaining we had to wait another hour to be reseated..in a conservatory that was freezing...had to ask for the mulled wine after they served the starters... Obviously booked for too many people..very hard to get served at bar...also only received hygiene star in recent assessment..would not visit again...
We booked the Griffin for Christmas Day. from arriving it was disorganised chaos had to stand around while we waited for tables to be set..we had to ask about half a dozen times for our pre ordered drinks.when we received our main the veg was...not brought out with it so had to wait for that by which time we had nearly eaten our meat.all in all not a great experience,for what we paid definitely will not be returning.
The Griffin has come a long way in the short time the new owners have been in charge. It’s been a rollercoaster of more than a year of difficulties beyond their control, as in every hospitality setting. The staff are always welcoming and my four-legged...friend is well looked after too. The home made Griffin Inn pie is always my favourite but sometimes you have to be there early before they’re all sold out!

We attended for a few drinks just as a couple. Both drinks we ordered had to be sent straight back, John smiths and prosecco. The prosecco must of been sat in an open bottle for a long time, it was flat and tasted horrendous.. also...wasn’t measured when poured, a glass with a strawberry thrown in. We used to love this pub and in recent months seems to have lost what it used to be.
I have visited this restaurant many times as it is close to me, but it has deteriorated significantly since it changed ownership. The food and service are poor, with long wait times for food on multiple occasions without any apologies. The low hygiene rating is not surprising.
This restaurant has greatly improved since a renovation last year. The dining experience is of excellent quality and the dining room is beautiful. Although I found it to be a bit overpriced, I would definitely return in the future.
Had a lovely meal ,the waitress was friendly and helpful good service and good food , just a shame didn't have ingredients to make a Pina Colada and no staff that could make an Old Fashioned from the cocktail menu , bit of a shame

The staff at this restaurant were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent in both the restaurant and the pub. We had a delicious meal for two and a bottle of wine for only £29.99, which was great value for money.
Just had a great evening in the Griffin. The food was delicious. The staff were amazing. Young lad girl who looked after us were so nice and friendly. Nothing too much trouble. Great night.
