"I have been here several times and it is always good. The food service and location is wonderful for a nice relaxed meal which still feels a bit special. Sadly it's a bit of a drive for me otherwise I would go more often."

We have visited the Grumpy Mole several times a year since moving to the area 7 years ago and it has always been one of our favourites. This year though the service has deteriorated and put a real dampener on our visits. We’ve been about 5 times already this year. And several things have happened in that time: we asked for some cordial juice suitable (for our 3 year old), we got served lemonade and lime! Then when we said no we got given the worst look in the world by the waitress we’ve waited over 40mins for the bill and then when we went to the bar the waitress was arguing with the barman (about getting another tables drinks wrong), and I had to stand there for a further 5 mins waiting my...
Upon our arrival at the restaurant, we had to wait 10 minutes at the bar before someone approached us to inquire about our reservation, which we did have. We were then led to a very small table and ordered our drinks. When our drinks arrived, we were immediately asked if we were ready to order our food. Unfortunately, we were informed that the steaks we had chosen were not available, despite this not being mentioned on the menu. We requested some more time to reorder, and when the food finally arrived, the waiter warned us that the plate was extremely hot while serving the Beef Stroganoff. We used to dine quite a lot at the grumpy mole prior to Covid, we came back just after and just was not as good, moving on thought we would give it another go and it’s back on top again .. very friendly greeting and very quick to take our drinks order we then ordered I had the scallop and prawn in puff pastry which was amazing my partner had potato skins we then both had steaks cooked exactly how we asked for followed by squidgy meringue all of which was superb we will definitely become regulars again. First visit to this quintessential English village and after a wonderful circular walk following the Mole we dropped into The Grumpy for a late lunch. Immediately, we were greeted and seated and an excellent local ale presented. Water arrived without having to ask, as did a water bowl for our canine. A really decent sauvignon was ordered and washed down the most fabulous fillet cooked on hot stone at the table. One of our group had a fish pie, which was reported as excellent. The steak was considerably better than a recent trip to a Michelin starred pub in Berkshire and, overall, simply one of the best pub restaurant meals ever. Top service, atmosphere, drink and food. Me, my family and our dog visited the grumpy mole on Monday evening for the second time and enjoyed a delicious 2 course meal. We had a warm welcome from a lovely young lady named Leah and a gentleman called Charlie who were extremely attentive to us and our dog who enjoyed a few yummy treats! We was taken care of exceptionally well and had lots of help choosing certain dishes we was able to eat as we had some dietary restrictions, food was amazing so a big thank you to the chefs to. It’s not every day you walk into a restaurant where the staff are so welcoming,smiley and the atmosphere has an all around good feel. Highly recommend we will most definitely be back again!
We have been to this pub/restaurant a few times now and have not been disappointed. We both had the trio of roasts, which is beef, lamb, and chicken, and it was excellent. We have also had their normal menu, and my husband would highly recommend the steak and kidney pudding, which is his favourite. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble It is now our go-to pub.
We have just come back from lunch for 6 at the Grumpy Mole Brockham from start to finish the meal was perfect. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable we had a gluten and dairy intolerant guest and all needs were met without any issues and was seemless. The fish pie was homemade and delicious and pancake desert even better. I would highly recommend for any occasion
Fantastic service, our little dogs were greeted warmly given water and a treat and then we had a sumptuous afternoon tea, finger sandwiches, Teacakes and sweet cakes. They worked hard to cater to our vegan, pescatarian and normal afternoon tea at short notice! Much appreciated and I would recommend it! Réservez une table maintenant
We went to The Grumpy Mole on Brockham Green for lunch on March 4th to celebrate a couple of birthday’s from our swimming group. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food, which was delicious, and the staff were very friendly and looked after us very well. Would definitely go back again.
