Booked a table for lunch for a family gathering on a Sunday lunchtime, but that will be the last time. There was a catalogue of issues from the outset. No menus were provided to us, or given to us when asked, so had to order from the small list of meals given to us verbally. Meals incredibly overpriced Sunday roast, which should be the flagship meal of an English pub on a Sunday, was small, luke warm at best and had rock hard potatoes. Don’t be fooled by the large fish and chips the ‘large’ refers to the portion of chips, not the measly battered fish fillet. We had to ask for our plates to be cleared after being sat on the table long after we’d finished. Dijon mustard provided when we had as...

The restaurant experience started off well with a friendly waitress welcoming us, offering a wine sample, and taking our orders. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. Our chosen starters were not available, and the vegetable soup we settled for was disappointing. The main courses came with cold and bland mashed potatoes that had to be reheated. Dessert was missing from the order, yet still appeared on the bill. The strong smell of bleach from kitchen cleaning was unpleasant. The service during bill correction lacked effort and apology, with no farewell from the management. Overall, considering the high prices, the mediocre food, and the lackluster service, the experience fell short...

A man, who we assume was the manager because he never came near our table, sent a young waiter over to us twice to inquire if the mistake was on our end and if we had cancelled the pudding. We expressed our overall disappointment with our lunch to the waiter, who relayed the message to the manager. However, the manager did not inquire about what went wrong, offer an apology, or even bid us goodbye or thank you as we left. The pub, both indoors and outside at the front, appears slightly rundown, and the toilets are in need of modernization. This experience was yet another disappointing dining outing in a country where you pay a premium for mediocre food, poor service, and little appreciation...

We weren't sure what to expect following recent mixed reviews but were pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and caring with the food of good quality and hot. It arrived quickly even though it was reasonably busy. We had herb crusted Salmon with new potatoes Steak pie of the day lovely chunky chips.. The is a warming wood burning fire but might be a good idea to don an extra layer on a chilly evening. we would revisit next time in the area
