John your pub used to be fantastic , the bar appears still to be but the restaurant supervisor was just rude and unwelcoming with two young children she refused a table for a high chair expecting a two year old to sit at the back right high table, we was told the low tables where reserved for wheelchair users (all three of them) we explained we booked a high chair and was told very abruptly that no the system booked the table and can’t be changed , having moved tables before that’s nonsense and then told to wait until another table waited 15 minutes two two hungry young children and not called , again went in was rudely spoken too and heard the supervisor say to a table leaving ‘don’t rush’...
Was kept waiting at the bar before anyone spoke to us. I had booked a table for two. After about 10 mins we got to order our drinks and food. Drinks came, then we waited, and waited, and waited. After an hour I asked when they thought we might get our meals....we'd both ordered roast beef. After the staff all vanished into the kitchen a female member of staff came to say that our order had been lost as they'd had to change the till roll......thought about this on the drive home, so how comes the drinks came? Pretty soon the food arrived, looked lovely, tasted good too....not enough roast potatoes though, mash just doesn't cut it on a roast dinner. We did wonder if they might have knocked any...
The restaurant is dog-friendly, but it feels a bit forced. Dogs are only allowed in one room and must stay on the concrete floor, which doesn't seem to please the staff. Although they provide dog beds, they are quite smelly, so I ended up laying my jacket on the floor for our dog. The food was decent, but the roast was a small, fancy portion, and my partner was hungry again about an hour later. Service: 4, Location: 5.
Had an excellent meal of steak pie and chips. It was delicious and there was plenty of it. Very friendly pub. I sat outside and had a good chat with the locals and staff who all seemed to know each other! Excellent pricing too. Ring o bells was 30% more expensive the day before and not great ! Took the Mrs for a meal first time here oh my god food to die for and one of the best pints around Hatton gold just try it for yourselves you be disappointed Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great value
