The Heartwood Cafe

The Heartwood Cafe has the grandma vibes down-pat. The only thing that's missing is receiving a knitted sweater after being seated. The restaurant is decorated with vintage pieces, such as a typewriter, tacky old cans and dusty books. I ordered your classic eggs with bacon and toast, which really hit the spot. Wasn't a big fan of their homade ketchup though. If I'm ever in Medicine Hat again (which I'm doubtful about) I will definitely visit this granny pad once more.

as a band on tour, we had the pleasure to play the heartwood caffe in this summer and we recommend this jewel also bands and publikum alike. from the moment when we showed up, we were treated with hospitable and good humor by jenny and the rest of the personal. the excellent cuisine, attentive audience and the overall fantastic mood make the heartwood one of the most important places for live music in medicine.

Just visited the new location on North Railway. They have exceptional food and friendly service unfortunately trapped in a poorly put together dining room. Clashing colors, disconnected decor, and very little attention to detail. It’s clear they were going for eclectic, but didn’t quite nail it. Still worth the stop though!

Always a great dining experience. Such a unique place to eat. I love it. Roasted Beet Salad is my favourite.
