We stayed at the hotel when meeting up with friends. Originally looking for a venue that was halfway between both our starting points we were drawn here due to the excellent reviews. Positives with the exception of the completely burnt (should have been chargrilled) toast that accompanied mussels starters (it was replaced after highlighting it to the waitress how it was missed I don't know) and whole cloves of garlic in the sauce, dinner was good. Not cheap, but good. The cheeseboard was particularly good. Negatives breakfast (included in the price of our rooms). We had to pre order this. Service was lacking. We were not invited to have any juices or cereals (we had to ask, we only got juice...
Oh what a charming place with amazing food, all locally sourced. I went with my family the children were well catered for. Staff polite and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. I suggest making a reservation as the restaurant gets extremely busy. Even at 5pm on a Saturday evening with a reserved table in a packed restaurant our meals arrived quickly. The food was out of this world, top quality my steak cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. Staff clean smart polite and on hand to help at all times. Decor has an oldy worldy theme, but somehow remains modern and appealing. My visit was super. Thank you so much
We had a wonderful evening at The Horse. The staff, from the owner to the crew, were all fantastic - pleasant, engaged, intelligent, polite, and friendly. They truly contributed to making our evening enjoyable. The food and drinks were excellent as well. Despite the competition within a 10-mile radius, The Horse is definitely one of the best options. I can't think of a single aspect of our evening that wasn't perfect.
Lovely pub. Very helpful when booking as I had questions about our dog coming. Staff are lovely and welcoming. Food was outstanding. I recommend the ‘ham, egg and chips’ starter! Great quality food and large portion size. Well presented and a broad menu on offer. Cannot fault anything about our experience just wish this was my local.

We had an absolutely delicious breakfast at the Horse on Saturday. The staff are so professional and friendly, the food was fresh and we all had a different brunch that was different but equally as good. They even offered to do a mini version of the porridge for my baby. Would absolutely visit again.
I am giving this restaurant 3 stars mainly because of the slow service and the small portions. Unfortunately, due to these two issues, we will not be coming back. The service may have just been a one-off bad day, but there is no excuse for small portions being overpriced.
Lovely accommodation in a good location with plenty of parking. On the main Ashby road, but rooms set back aways so no noise from the road or the pub. The breakfast choices were good and ours was yummy (full english).
The food at this restaurant was outstanding, and the service provided by Cerys, Jacob, and Gaby was fantastic. Lee runs a fantastic pub that is very welcoming and definitely worth checking out.

Just enjoyed the best Sunday lunch at the Horse with a group of friends. Food was faultless, absolutely delicious. Service was extremely friendly and food arrived quickly. Thank you!
Excellent food and service. Even stayed for the quiz in the evening, great fun. Can’t wait to return to try more delicious food.
