Fantastic local pub. Cosy atmosphere, eclectic decor, fabulous memorabilia covered walls. Friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Delicious good value food. The function room aka The Gin Bar is superb, a smaller version of the downstairs bar, same decor and cosy atmosphere. Brilliant service. We enjoyed a family party of 20 guests in the upstairs function room, our own bar man, waiter service of our meals and birthday cake, excellent service. Music and dancing. Photos of the birthday boy and family going round on a loop on our own TV screen. Great value venue hire from early to the wee small hours. Probably the worst pub food I've ever had. I'd ordered a mixed grill the steak hadn't been cooked as ordered, the rest was far from hot and it seems they're watering down the coleslaw. The steak had been reheated but by the time it came back everything else was cold. I'd suggest that the establishment looks into employing a chef or somebody with catering experience. In all fairness I cannot recommend eating at the Hyde Park until somebody with catering experience is employed! That said the staff were polite and friendly.
Ample table space reserved for our party of 18. Promptly served food with all meals hot well portioned with a wider than expected choice of vegetables. I was particularly impressed at the effort the Pub went to in catering for my gluten free requirements as a Coeliac; thank you! Can I just suggest that, particularly with a large party, gravy/mustard/cranberry etc is brought out before the meals so that diners can commence eating without waiting for the condiments/sauces. Recommended.
Called up last minute to book for 7 of us on a Friday night as we were visiting the area and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. From the minute we arrived, the staff were friendly and helpful and the place looked packed. We didn’t have a long wait for our food and it was all delicious, fresh and tasty and portions were great. It was also dog friendly which was fab for us to bring our cavapoo. I would definitely go again when we are back in the area.

Table for four booked for my sons birthday. We were seated in the conservatory area, which was really cold. When I asked if there was any heating on, waitress said that she was hot ,so was not on. My grandson ordered burger and chips without any sauce, which he didn’t eat, as it was covered in sauce. The two pie and chip meals had cold cauliflower cheese with it. Very disappointed with our visit.
Ok, so the food here is reasonable pub fare, and the staff are friendly and pleasant, BUT, the whole place makes me claustrophobic. Who on Earth things it’s a good idea these days to literally fill the place with fake signs and logos, all over the walls and ceilings?? Maybe the locals like it, but in my opinion this is just far too much, particularly given the size and shape of the spaces.
The pub is decorated with old signs quite quaint. The menu is standard pub grub with a good choice of burgers and pies. I had the steak, Stilton and mushroom pie which was good. The others had the burgers which was also said to be good. Reasonable choice of drinks. Would recommend.
They have really gone downhill which is a shame. Extremely long wait for our food and we were very disappointed when it arrived. The portions were small I literally had 6 chips) and the burger was small and thin. I would have done better cooking my own meal at home.

Very tasty Quarter pounder bacon burger served with chips and coleslaw. Prices are very reasonable. Very friendly staff.
