One of the better places around DC for enjoying a meal outdoors but let down somewhat by inconsistent food that fails to merit its relatively high prices. Amongst other dishes, we enjoyed a good salmon dish and an OK seafood stew rather watery with a small amount of seafood. The deserts Guinness bread pudding and a cinnamon stick with ice cream were disappointing. The latter seemed to have been warmed up in a microwave and lacked any crispness quite lifeless actually. The service was good and friendly.
We have eaten at the Inn for thiry+ years, but not been there for several years. Went for Saturday lunch and could have gone to a 5-Star for that bill! Three got crabcakes, so have to expect the price, I suppose. They were ALL crab, but a bit mushy. **** Marys were way too salty, and undrinkable (left them). Service was okay, but not really attentive to coming back to the table soon after food came to see what we needed (lemon, butter for potatoes). The BEST scones!
For the past 20 years, my family has celebrated various occasions at The Irish Inn, including wedding receptions, birthdays, holiday gatherings, and wakes. The experience has always been enjoyable thanks to the delicious food, inviting atmosphere, and exceptional staff. Our recent monthly lunch with family was once again fantastic! I’ve been to Glen Echo many, many times but lately I return saying to myself I’ll give it another chance. The food was good and the service not so good. While the food arrived quickly, the waiter was unable to put a smile on his face. I had the shellfish entree and had to ask for a seafood fork. Music in the bar was wonderful. So, I’ll go back to listen to the music and forget about ordering food.

The dining room was cozy. Pub was busy. Service was great and everything I tried was delish. Highly recommend the Shepherds pie.
This restaurant is a fantastic option for a delicious lunch with excellent service. It never fails to put a smile on my face.
