After slugging through nearby Bunnings today we thought 'let's try that Italian place next to First Choice Liquor (a frequent stop off point!)'. I really just wanted to sit down, have a glass of wine and eat a bowl of pasta. All of that changed the moment we were meant by a Nigella-esque woman who showed us to our chosen outside table and handed us the menu. I had immediate flashbacks of Venice and we decided to order a bottle of Rosé to share whilst going through the food selections. We picked "The Italian" for lunch at random and liked it. It had interesting atmosphere, like North Italy but Anglo influence. I found the use of produce cans to hold utensils a bit bizarre as all it did was show they used a lot canned produce but I suppose this was to give the rustic North Italy look. It just didn't work like that. We had the ravioli, which is tough to get in some Italian restaurants, and it had massive pasta pieces (small number) with the vegetables just cooked so they were crispy, yum. I would have said the food quality was good but not outstanding but it's on the edge of an industrial estate in a shopping centre
I come here a lot, every week and sometimes twice a week infact. The problem is consistency with the food quality. Italians are great at making food so there should be no excuse for bad food. Last night we ordered the Italian special as it looked great on their own Facebook photo, well what was received was not even close and tasted bland and watered down. I would also like to complain about the wine list as for the last 3 weeks local or house chardonnay is not available and your only option is Italian chardonnay at $19 a glass. They are a tavern next door to choice liquor wholesale store. "Come On !"
This restaurant is lovely, well designed and has the BEST Tiramasu we have had outside of an authentic Italian Grandmothers kitchen! Franchesca is so informative about the menu from the Italian Wine to the Entrees, and the prices will make this place a family favorite. We LOVE this beautiful little restaurant and will always be our pick for Date Night

What an amazing night - two small grandchildren were there and they were looked after with colouring in. The dinner which included pizzas, parmigiana and wine were amazing The meals arrived quick and staff were amazing and knowledgable but the dessert and coffee was to die for.We will return often and thank you for a great evening.
Love The Italian at Cannon Hill. Ive been here twice for dinner and so far have not been disappointed. Good service from the staff, Laura is always wonderful. Great prawn pizza and the Crab Lasagna is to die for. My fav place for Italian food and Peroni Beer.
In old Cannon Hill tavern. gorgeous Italian food, fresh and tasty. Prices excellent. Good Italian wines too. Too full for dessert but menu looked sensational. Will definately go again. Cheap pizza night Monday and Tuesdays
eating is great as it is the service, today there was a small mistake that was quickly and graciously rectified. everyone makes mistakes, it is how they are treated and we were very happy with the answer
