Myself and fiance had a meal here one afternoon, as we were staying just 10 mins away in the flowery dell lodges. The staff were very welcoming. We sat in the bar area next to the fire, we decided to have starters. I had soup very tasty tomato) and fiance had chicken starter.. well it was very filling!! Then we both had a vegetarian meal.. we were told it would be a bit wait by the owner as they were short staff, of which we was in no hurry and was very happy to sit n chill with our drinks. The pub is a very relaxing place , it was great to see few locals coming in for drinks and sitting chatting to one another, we could stayed all day!!.. we would definitely visit this place again if we ret...
We visited this restaurant while on vacation after reading the reviews. We went on a Sunday for a roast... and were very disappointed. The beef was tough and overcooked, the vegetables were undercooked, the mashed potatoes were lumpy and dry, the roast potatoes seemed microwaved and undercooked in the middle, and the Yorkshire pudding was rock hard and burnt. However, the gravy was tasty. The whole meal was lukewarm and the plates were cold. Another table had to send their roasts back twice and ended up leaving without eating. We decided not to say anything because it seemed like sending it back to the kitchen wouldn't make much of a difference. We will not be returning.
Highly recommend a visit to this restaurant. The rooms were exceptionally clean and welcoming, much like the warm reception we received upon arrival. For lunch, we highly recommend trying the Yorkshire Ploughman's with a pint of local bitter. Breakfast was also fantastic, with fresh butcher's sausage, black pudding, and plenty of real coffee. Paul, Debbie, and all the staff were incredibly helpful and provided excellent service. The locals were also very friendly. Overall, we highly recommend this restaurant.
Disappointed with our visit since its changed hands. Menu's that we're placed on the table looked like they spent the previous evening on the bar floor. This didn't give us any confidence from the start. Barmaid looked like she had just fallen out of bed. Food was below average. At the end of the day if they are prepared to give out soiled paper menus what's the rest of the establishment like? Wouldn't return in a hurry I'm afraid if at all.

I recently visited this restaurant while attending a Remembrance Sunday service at Hipswell. It is a wonderful dog-friendly establishment with clean and comfortable rooms offering breathtaking views. The food is exceptional - we enjoyed a delicious full English breakfast and Sunday roast. Chef Ben was attentive and all the staff were fantastic. Kudos to Chris and the team for running such a great place!
Called in for Lunch, staying at flowery dell. Greeted by a lovely young lady. We ordered lasagna x2 beef borgione x1 steak ale pie. 3 beers a wine. All food was exceptional and the lasses loved the lasagna and said it was the best they had ever had and they are experts on thier lasagna s. Beef was tender. Drinks lush and the waiter/waitress friendly and happy. 10 out of 10. Will percent recommend
Six of us went for our friends birthday and the food was excellent staff was very friendly and helpful we would recommend this this pub the new owners have done a great job we will definitely be returning
Went to go stay here would not recommend they rang me 2hrs before my booking saying they couldn’t now accommodate me due to fully booking and was not a lot they could do even though I explained was on way

Lovely place and staff food great too, will definitely go back now the pandemics over, very accommodating I didn’t want butter on my potato’s and they were unplaced and happy to help
