While enjoying a quiet drink with friends at a restaurant, we were confronted by two men who made rude comments and stared at us. Despite our attempts to ignore them, the situation escalated and became intimidating. The bar staff seemed to take the side of the troublemakers, even referring to one of them by name as if they were regulars. When we tried to understand what we had done wrong, we were ignored. The men even went as far as to shout insults at us from across the pub. It was clear that they were looking for trouble, and the staff chose to ignore the situation. I’ve been visiting this pub since the old Star days, and it’s reinvention as the JW, Liz the former landlady did an exquisite job of transforming it to a staple pub for the Cheadle community for many years. Unfortunately the new owners don’t have the same drive or passion to keep this reputation. They seem happy to keep the custom of the lower class of society in their establishment. Which is a shame when compared to how the former landlady had transformed the pub into THE central pub of Cheadle. Avoid at all costs if you want a nice social drink you may accosted by an angry local who has the protection of the staff. Such a shame.
The restaurant had impolite staff and a young girl working there who followed us around all night accusing us of things. It was not a pleasant experience. Additionally, the prices were shockingly expensive. I was charged around £10 for one double vodka. I am disappointed and will not be returning.
simply the best real ale pub in the opposite. but wobbly stamp micro bar hits it on regular range sales because pandemic they focus on the entire range of hydes bier. (hydes, beer studio, provenienz, ralf and alf friendly pub renovated on a very good standard. beautiful staff.

I have tried all the pubs in the opposite. and to land miles far away, this is the best, with very nice staff, fantastic beer and music, and very good eating. I like this pub very, with friendly people. it is my favorite after work.
We had a fantastic birthday meal for two families at this restaurant. The food was delicious, the prices were reasonable, and Alissa provided excellent service. We had a great time and enjoyed the music as well.
Excellent staff and service. Friendly atmosphere. Good selection of gins, and found my favourite rum Old J spice. Will definitely be returning.
Staff are lovely, great atmosphere, no TV’s so you have to talk to people its a perfect little pub!!
